... and watched one of the most entertaining games of hockey I've seen in a long while!
Vipers aren't the team they were last season, very disciplined (except Rob Wilson talking his way into the penalty box on more than one occasion). Not a peep out of #9 all night and even Messrs Robinson and Cornish were much quieter than we're used to. Poor old Cruickshank had a 'mare of a game, took himself off in the third, to add to the woe that his new team cannot spell his name right on his jersey!
It was my first EIHL game since the advent of ZT and when Andy Carson came out to ref I thought we were in for a long night! Not so. Andy had a blinding game that flowed well. It seems these two teams are already playing less clutch and grab.
Bison seemed to take a while to get going, but once they did they were very impressive, a great team ethic working well for each other. (and Gav Farrand aint afraid of anyone!)
Vipers seemed to run out of ideas when things started going wrong. They rallied a little at 5-0 down and looked very dangerous, like the Newcastle of old, but it was short lived.
A cracking game all in all, Bison really are going to be ones to watch this season.

Hi BJ, hope you are well. Ethan says hello! Basingstoke seemed better than last year but still looked average against us last week. Were it not for the fact we had 2 D-Men out injured and one serving a 10 minute penalty I think they wouldve struggled to score 2, let alone 4.

Crukshanck Maybe they were all spending too much time at Biker Grove with Ant & Dec rather than buckling down at school!

Lol that sounds about right! Cheers for the update Beej, hope all is well down there! He wouldn't know, he's a Vipers fan himself now, he missed CC so much he moved up to be nearer him. And Vipers have spelt CC's name Cruikshank as opposed to Cruickshank. Unless of course it was the Panthers who spelt it wrong for 2 seasons
