Right time to set the record straight - Evan Lindsay had an awesome game last night against a goalie of huge class standing on his head and making some great saves and they both played out of their skin. We have to come to terms with fact the Lindsay has different style to that we are used to IMHO. He does not make the snappy and fancy glove saves but quietly and efficiently moves the puck to areas where the opposition cant score from as a first preference and provides a solid wall which they can't get through when up close. He was my MOM last night and it was noticeable that the defense are getting used to his style themselves and move the puck away to help him. /rant on Point 2 - whats this classless chanting of EASY EASY at the end of the game about - no it wasn't and more over its devaluing the efforts of our team who had to work very hard to get the win last night and its downright disrespectful to the opposition who have came to make up the other half of a very entertaining spectacle. While I have been supportive of building the atmosphere in other posts this is going the other way, reminds me of behaviors exhibited at other rinks which we don't need to aspire to , gloating is never attractive and sets you up for a fall, hubris springs to mind, by all means lets enjoy the win and cheer the players and thank the opposition for competing but lets not taint the experience with inaccurate and arrogant drivel. /rant off I really enjoyed it last night and we got a penalty shot for the first time in years! Thought the ref had it right most of the time.

Well thank you for the information, I refer the honorable gentleman to my previous statements, just because it appears to be acceptable on Soccer AM doesn't make it OK in our context in my opinion, I stand by my previous comments as most of the fan base, like me, won't have seen the video.

Its at all the premiership games, 20 20 cricket, superleague and even darts as well, in fact most sports where the sky cameras are at Its comedy apparntley (the wrestlers are funny though)

So what we need now is to resurrect the campaing for the video screen ( which will need us to lift the roof by about 10 feet as I recall) so we can show the clips at games...... as we ll as the action:-)

It's all about context.
When the Horseman did it last year after we beat Cov 4-0, it was funny and it fit.
Last night, barely beating an organised team, it wasn't appropriate. It just sounded stupid to be honest of anyone claiming last nightwas by any stretch easy. It wasn't.

I agree totaly with ashotinthedark, Classless. embarrasing and absolutely disrespectful to both our side and the opposition.who have to work hard each game. It doesn't matter that it happens in other sports, dont let it 'catch on ' too much in ours. Lets keep our integrity.

Yeah, I mean God forbid that anything popular should spoil the minority status that is British Ice Hockey. Its not insulting and disrespectful to the opposition, and if we'd got beat and the Manchester fans had done it, fair enough. On the flip-side, I agree there's games when it was far from 'easy', and last night was one of them. Some people need to take themselves and others a little less seriously.

It seems that some fans, like most of the top jobs in British Ice Hockey like to treat it as a gentlemans club. Lets move on in it isnt 1946 anymore

Long gone are the days I could enjoy the game from the comfort of my leather armchair, wearing my smoking jacket, pink gin and pipe in hand ... a smattering of applause should our boys score unless it interrupted the fish course. They even let us flog any hapless flunky that found themselves on the penalty bench. None of this jeering and cheering stuff and nonsense ... Damn and blast the modern era. The Easy Easy thing is justa bit of humour, people need to chill out a bit, i doubt the other team would see it as 'disrespectful', people need to stop being so sensitive!

To me, that makes it funnier! The chanting and all that are part of the game and I'm sure the players know that its just a joke and don't think that we are being rude and thinking that they have had an easy ride...

My musings (because i know you all care)
We're good, it's tough to say that at an early stage but we do look to be a very good side for once. The defence worried me last week but certainly shored it up a bit last night. Going forward we are an exciting side too. I love watching some of our new signings, Steve Simoes in particular (man, this guy can skate!!) and we're scoring goals.
Making Clarkey the C was a master-stroke. He's focused, he's clinical and unlike last season, he is there 100% of the time. I can see him marshalling the troops wonderfully this year.
One negative, we're exciting going forward but we aren't particularily clinical. A second 50 shot game on the bounce and we only stuck 2 away. I know Wolfe played out of his skin but too many were wide or straight at the guy for my liking.
