I'm probably about to be shot down here but i don't care i'm gonna say it anyway. is it a big con or what? your telling me 6500 fans tonight and they only old 1500 tickets for a prize of £750? no chance sure its still a good prize but i don't believe that, somthings going a miss somewhere ,as nearly everyone i know who buys them, buys more than a quids worth.

Actually 750 is high for a crowd of 6500. Sure most people who buy them by 2*5. But that's every group not every person and some people/groups don't buy any.
Generally you can guess the approximate 50-50 prize by 10% of the crowd numbers. Typical sell out game would therefore be £650.
Also, I'm not positive but I'm pretty sure that they sold out of 50-50 tickets tonight. They were starting to struggle for ticket book before the end of the first break! I have a feeling they only bring 1500 tickets per game which isn;t surprising as, they wouldn't usulay expect to sell more than 1300 even on a sellout.

It's usually around the £500 mark on an averagr type night, so sounds about right to me.

You often find that at the Sheffield games its not as much as you would think.
£ 750 is average for those games.

Tickets are 20p each, so to get a £750 prize, you have to sell 7500 tickets, not 1500

wot i'm saying is though people usually buy a couple of quids worth not 20p worth. i meant 1500 books not tickets.
i think 750 is a good prize i wouldn't mind it, but i just don't always think it is 50/50. maybe its just me.

There were 8000 tickets at twenty pence each available to-night = £1600.00 Prize Money £750.00 Panthers £750.00 Printing will take up the other £100.00
Simple enough to work out.
Also the vast majority of customers buy £1.00 worth of tickets. The odd one will buy a single ticket. The number of people who buy £5.00 worth are few. This is my 25th. year selling these tickets, and the seven sellers have to work at it to get your prize money up.
All tickets were sold to-night, the last few going at the end of the second interval. Hope this information puts your mind at rest.

Remember it's the credit crunch, so people not spending as much money. I sometimes buy 50/50 tickets but didn't last night. Also the tight steelers fans probly didn't contribute much to the total. £750 was about right.

Steelers fans buying 50/50 tickets:- I usually average two / three customers, last night must have been my record, I had five steelers buying. The extra sales come from the extra Panthers supporters, plus the ones who hear the announcement on the rising pay out, and are wanting to have a go.

Dunno if Panthers fans differ in their purchasing habits, but at Coventry the ratio of shirt tickets to 50/50 is approximately 2.5:1. Given all financial constraints in this day and age if extrapolated on a like for like basis (And given the fact your tickets are 5 times cheaper) it would yield a lower prize fund.

Of course I wouldn't, but if I wanted to bet £1 on a 1600 to 1 shot I'd go down to the bookies where I'd probably get a hell of a lot more than £750 if my bet came good.
