Thanks to Rebecca Adlington.....it has never been so good to come from Mansfield. The town is buzzing. Lets hope that Andy turner can do something similar for Hucknall.

Of the six track cycling events so far we've won gold in 4 of them and medaled in five of them.

Pendalton looks a certain gold in her sprint
Then we have Hoy and kenny who look to be both in the medals in the sprint after impressing in the quarters.
Goodison just has to avoid finishing in last place in the Lazer class and will pick up a gold.
Phillips Idowu has qualified with the longest triple jump for the final too
Then theres Brabants going for gold in 2 events in the Cayak
17 gold??? not beyond the realms of impossible

Was great to see a Peterborough lad pick up the bronze in th gym. I interviewed his family after his semi final, and from what i heard he seems to have his feet on the ground. a realistic gold medal shout in 4 yrs We don't have semi finals in gymnastics. I guess you mean Competition I which is the qualification competition for all the other competitions. From comp I you get the top 8 team for the team comp, the top 24 gymnasts for the all around comp, and then top 8 on each piece for the apparatus finals. If we can qualify a full team in the mens for 2012, then I reckon we have a good chance. This is because the British mens junior team are current European Champions. Just to put the success of Louis Smith into perspective, after the last Olympics the British men had all their funding cut, meaning that Daniel Keatings and Louis Smith have been training without lottery funding, however, after this year I think they will get some funding back. Talk of an open top bus parade for Louis in Peterborough. If he gets gold in 4 yrs i suspect it will be Louisborough!

Can anyone answer a question for me please? Back to the swimming and Phelps. Can this record of 8 golds in one games be beaten or just equaled?

It can be beaten but you'll probably need to be in the American relay team to do it. Then again, China are catching in the pool too. Medal Table: China - 153 points USA - 126 AUS - 65 GB - 58 RUS - 58 SK - 47 GER - 46 FRA - 45 JAP - 41 3 points for a gold, 2 for a silver and a point for bronze. RUS should start their haul of medals from now on and end up 3rd. Hopefully we can hang on to 5th.

Im beginning to think with a bit of luck we could bring home 20 golds as we have a hot favourite in the BMX
Tim Brabants has targeted 2 golds in the 500 and 1000m K1
This has been a awesome Olympic games, the best performances i can remember, and i enjoyed the sydney ones but this GB team is the strongest i can remember

He`d do well to make the final let alone get a medal, hes not as quick as Gay and he bombed out in the semis. Our only realistic Medal in the birds next now is Phillips in the triple jump

Ok, she was never found to have taken drugs, but she is still a drugs cheat, and, as such, should have been subject to the British Olympic Committee's life ban on competing at the games. It was a good run from her, but still, a tainted medal

And then forgot again. And then forgot again. Silly old Dwaine - why didn't you simply forget? Hypocrits like Colin Jackson would have loved you then!
