On Sunday 8th October at 6.00pm Nottingham Lions take on the Kingston Jets. There is no Panthers game scheduled for that night, so why not come and see the Lions?
For a £10.00 contribution you will get admission to the game, and also help The Cage Forum sponsor the game.
Everyone who contributes to the game will go into a draw to pick two people to present the man of the match awards.
All the money generated will go towards the Lions costs, and depending on levels raised, may allow one or two future matches to be sponsored by The Cage Forum.
The Lions rely heavily on sponsorship and have had a number of players progressing though their ranks to play at higher levels.
To make a contribution you can either pay myself, Jono or Ted or send a personal message to me.
With no Panthers game and the Continental Cup the following weekend, its an ideal opportunity to get your hockey fix.

Count the Ellis clan in too Shorty - will bring a tenner Sunday and look out for one of you.
Add MP to the list - he's away but has said he'll be included in the sponsorship.

Shorty , you are a ruddy star! ;D ;D ;D Any and all will be welcome to this game....

As Lucy said, put me down for a contribution - hope to be at the game. I'm not likely to see any of you before Panthers home game on the 30th to hand over the money but no doubt something can be sorted out along the way.

Just reminding people about the game with a little nudge rather than a full-on bump- in this zero tolerance day and age I don't want to get called for roughing. I'd like to draw the attention of everyone who comes to the game to the excellent matchday programme, which for a bargain price of £1 contains the outstanding View from the South column, that in the opinion of this critic is well worth the price on its own .

So your saying this "View from the South" is a good Column. I guess People will have to come to a game to find out hey Ed. ;D They certainly will - apart from the North American News column that appears in the Invicta Dynamos matchday programme, there is no column in the country I enjoy reading more, but the Dynamos' programme costs £2 so this is better value for money. Edit to say I've just re-read the last matchday programme and while the column is as I remembered, its quality pales in comparison to the action shots provided by the team's official photographer.

First of all... on behalf of the Friends Of The Lions, may I say a HUGE "thank you!" to Shorty for organising this... not forgetting Ted and Jono, of course...
Secondly - THANK YOU to the sponsors who put their money into his and helped us out. Sadly the attendance was far less than we'd hoped - that, coupled with the disgraceful behaviour of the non-paying Kingston fans, meant that we made a loss on the gate (we have to cover the match officials' fees) - so the help from the sponsors was even more valuable.
When the frustration levels and "why do I even bother?" feeligns rise to the fore, as they did tonight, it's people like this that help restore at least a measure of faith....
Thank-you.

Very disappointing news about the attendance Dave - it's unfortunate that most Panthers fans seem only interested in competitive games involving Panthers rather than hockey in general. Goose Fair and the Rouen trip won't have helped any either I suppose. Glad to have helped out in a small way - even though I missed most of the game.

it wasnt that but the fact that Hull fans refused to pay and sat in T n Ds and watched the game for free. Yup - that's going to be an ongoing problem. Am I right in thinking that at Hull you can watch the game from the bar/cafeteria so long as you have a valid ticket for the game in progress? Sounds like there is a need for a similar system at the NIC now that the T&D has been altered. Will anyone be contacting the NIC about the matter?

The Lions and their supporters will be taking a moral high ground in this issue. We don't give out free tickets to away supporters and we don't accept them from other teams. Thus we made the decision last night that went we go to Hull we will pay for admission but that is all we will pay for. Besides a man waving a sieve and then putting it on his head just looks silly standing in the bar. It isn't unless you can hear him that you get a real appreciation of just how stupid he is. Thanks again (from a Friend of the Lion who is tied for second in the points table) to all those who sponsored the game - it is greatly appreciated. By the sound of things it just managed to stop Shaggy busting a bloodvessel

Getting away from everything else that happened yesterday, the Lions would like to thank Shorty and The Cage for their sponsorship of that game.
The money that was raised helped cover the cost of the officials match fees, and the rest will go towards future Lions' games.
