I'd like to go to one or two of the T20 matches but would like some info that I'm having trouble finding so wondered if anyone could help.
Firstly how much are the tickets? (I don't have the time or the inclination to register with their website to find that out)
Secondly, what's a best, worst and most likely estimate of how long a T20 takes from start to finish? I'd like to go on the 22nd June (starts 14:30) but need to be in Top Valley by 17:30 (17:45 at the v latest) is this doable?

I think you will be looking at about £13 to £15 for tickets. You can generally get the group stage ones on the day, but may have to queue for a while if you leave it late.
Generally three to four hours should do you, but obviously if a team batting first gets bowled out quickly or a low score, it could be less time.
I doubt you would get back to Top Valley for 5.30 for a game starting at 2.30.

Went to Saturday's match against Durham. Cost £12 for the ticket and the game lasted approximately 3 hours.
I can highly recommend the experience. Very entertaining.

Well it looks like that will be the decider for third place in the group, and a potential back door to the quarter finals.
Listening to the commentary from Leics tonight, I would hope the players would be made to walk home. Some disgraceful batting from the sound of it chasing a meager total against a number of Leics second eleven players.

What a shambles that was! There never seemed to be any inclination towards getting a decent target - we seem to have gone through the whole tournament thinking 130 would always be enough.
Rubbish.
Still, Derek Brewer will be happy enough - 11 thousand + to watch that, he must be well pleased. One more big pay day to see a team of under performing pro-sports 'stars'. Now where have I heard that before?

The worse thing about all of this is that with England having Sidebottom, Broad and Swann, you would expect our bowling to be the problem. But no, the bowlers have performed well for the most part, I have been impressed with Ferley, Patel and Pattinson. The batting performance however has been poor at best, with just one or two getting started in each 20/20 game. This has to be rectified for the 4-day game or another relegation fight is looming, even after such a good start.

Must say, that was a clinical performance by the men from the white rose county, but what impressed me more, was the intelligent batting from the opening pair. Yesterday was knockout cricket, and it did not matter how quick you finished the game, so long as you finished the game - and with a 99 run partership to start off with, that did the job for Yorkshire. As a first time visitor to Trent Bridge, have to say you have a fantastic venue there and one which i'll definately be going back to. Was also suprised to see one of Nottingham's favourite hockey personnel there yesterday, in the guise of Andrew Carson who had took his son to his first ever 20/20 clash yesterday. But overall a fantastic day (which it would have been regardless of the result) but the journey home was that little bit better

Breaking newsNotts might have another chance of making the quarter finals. It appears that the team from the White Rose County played a not fully qualified player. What is it with the teams from Yorkshire, that can't play within the rules of the game. Yorkshire CCC Leeds United Sheffield Steelers Sheffield Shadows Rotherham United Sheffield HosNic advanced team

What a pigs ear this is. I feel most for the fans who were at the Riverside waiting to see the Durham v Yorkshire game, only for it to be called off. I cant see the ECB letting Yorkshire retain their place, having cancelled the whole game.
From Trentbridge.co.uk
Statement from Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club Chief Executive Derek Brewer
In light of the postponement of the quarter-final fixture between Durham and Yorkshire, we understand that a panel of the Cricket Disciplinary Commission will meet this week.
We will follow matters very closely and await the outcome of their discussions.
Statement From The ECB
The Twenty20 Cup quarter-final between Durham and Yorkshire was postponed after the England and Wales Cricket Board today (Monday) received allegations that Yorkshire had fielded an ineligible player in a crucial Twenty20 group match.
In a Twenty20 group match on June 27, 2008 at Trent Bridge between Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire, Yorkshire fielded Azeem Rafiq who is alleged to be an unqualified cricketer.
The match between Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire decided which team qualified for the Twenty20 Cup quarter-finals. As soon as the allegations were received by the ECB it was agreed to convene a panel of the Cricket Disciplinary Commission.
After investigation this morning (Monday) the board’s legal advisers confirmed that the player was not eligible to be registered as a qualified cricketer.
ECB made it clear to both counties that in view of the alleged ineligibility of Azeem Rafiq that it was possible that the panel could order the replay of any match or matches which could affect any quarter-final.
The ECB are convening a meeting of the panel as a matter of urgency so that any relevant matches will be played before Twenty20 finals day at Southampton on July 26, 2008.
The ECB shares the disappointment of all the spectators who travelled to The Riverside that the Twenty20 Cup quarter-final was unable to be played.

It really is a mess. The only reason that the lad played was because the ECB had stopped Vaughan from playing as they wanted to rest him before the next round of International fixtures.
Swann has now been released from National Team duties, so could play in the next fixture. I don't know where Cairns is now (not that he contributed an awful lot anyway).
The other major factor is that when the game was played, Notts were on a losing streak. Winning at Hampshire and taking the lead in the CCC will given confidence a major boost, and the players will have had a bit of a rest now as well.
If it was Notts that put the complaint in (I cant see who else it would have been), its a bit embarassing as we were well and truly thumped, and the guy didnt really make much impact in the game.
I guess it is all down to money.

Good article there Rumpole.
IF the only way he could have played would be as an overseas player - then there is no problem. We did not field an overseas player throughout the group stage (Rudolf is a kolpak) so if thats the basis for it - then it makes it even more confusing.

But he still would not have been eligible to play anyway as he would have needed to be registered with the ECB. I remember watching the build up to the game on Sky, and Gough did not even know the guys name! He just new his nickname.

For crying out loud! Durham seem to be picketing anyway and everywhere to get a free pass into the Twenty20 Finals day. It's bordering ridiculous. If a team gets disqualified they get replaced by someone else. They are acting the victim nicely but the reality is the team who got "cheated" (if you can call it that, it all seems a bit of a silly non issue to me) is Notts so surely they get a shot at Durham instead. Durham play a good victim but it's not them who got were put out "unfairly" is it. The fact it's Notts muddies the waters in these parts but I'd say the same if it were anyone (yes even Derbyshire). I can't believe the North East strop!

If you're going to go back to the results of the group stages though Notts wouldn't be through anyway. Notts would be the third best third-placed team with 9 points. Kent and Glamorgan would be the best and second best third-placed teams with 12 and 10 points respectively, so it would be Glamorgan that should go through.
That is unless you're going to get really silly and start dividing Yorkshire's points amongst the Northern group to give Notts a total of 11.4 points.

Ah, just realised the game in question was against Notts, so presumably the argument in favour of Notts is that they should take the points from that game, which would have seen them through to the next round. Ho hum, just ignore me
