Reminds me of this vintage thread 'Tie Domi to Panthers' that was around a few years ago. ;D ;D ;D Sven will/has already put Notts on the map and given weight to our credentials under new owners. Whatever his cost he wont be "cost effective" but having such a big name will kick start the change in optimism and mentality around the club which could have threatened the early days of the new owners. Say Sven gets £1m p/a.... the people involved probably spend more than that on cars!

Exciting times. I used to be a season ticket holder at the lane until I started watching Panthers and noticed how much warmer the arena was. I'm really pleased for the fans, the club now has the potential to work it's way up and that has to be great for everybody and the city as a whole.

As a Forest fan, I have to say good luck to 'Pies and I hope the Sven thing works out.

As a Forest fan I am hating this.
But it has to be good news for football in Nottingham. County won't see much benefit from this until January or even next season. The League wage cap means that a maximum of 60% of income can be spent on player wages. Last year the gate at the Lane averaged out at around 4500. I would imagine that Sven's presence may well add 2 or 3 thousand to that for the coming season. It may well be a big draw for some of the better lower league players to come in on loan deals or short term contract transfers, where a higher wage is negotiated should the Pies attendances increase sufficiently and/or they are successful on the field.
I would imagine that Munto will be expecting promotion this season.

I reckon if we make playoffs it wouldnt be too bad, then build for the season after. Munto will take that, as long as everything else is going smoothly.

Championship in 5 years is doable with the resources being available. Colchester Scunthorpe and Peterborough have done it in less time than that in recent seasons. It is when/if we get to championship level things get a lot more competitive. It is then we may have to consolidate again, take stock and re-assess where the next phase will lead us.
The main thing is that Munto are rebuilding a football club and the infra-structure within it so that eventually they will see a return on their investment and have a competitve and self sufficient business in the medium to long term. They are not just going to flash the cash and get a load of entertainers and prima donnas in.
How long before the media dredge the shared super stadium story up again?

Irrelevant. The fact is that it has already had the desired impact on the football world. I don't know who first coined the phrase but there is no such thing as bad publicity.

this eurphoria around the sadpies will soon die down, once sven knows where he is, he ll be off sharpish, they won t catch Forest up anytime soon, theres no danger of that. If i was a county fan id be worried that this could all end in tears

If i was a county fan id be worried that this could all end in tears Yeah it could, but that's exactly what has been said about Abramovich and Chelsea when he took over in 2003. I agree that Notts " wont catch up with Forest" but I certainly think that both Nottingham clubs are heading for good times from their own perspective.

If i was a county fan id be worried that this could all end in tears New owners with cash at the ready are going to talk the talk. I remember when Forest had elected shareholders back in the day and they voted in favour of reforming the clubs constitution. Irving Scholar became head honcho at Forest. We all know how that ended up. I am not suggesting for 1 minute things could be that bad at Notts and you will be #1 in the city for another 2 seasons at least, but there is nothing wrong with being ambitious is there?

Yes but it is a stupid phrase. Bad publicity tends to be bad publicity. Notts have the spiotlight on them for a few weeks. Sven will ensure that. The problem is that every club in L2 are after you now. And fans of other clubs will happily see Sven fall flat on his face. Then there is the Lee Hughes factor. And the expectation of promotion because Notts supposedly have money. That's a lot of pressure.

The hype and expectation is something all concerned with the club will have to deal with though. 8 new players have already arrived in the off season with others moving out. One thing Notts have lacked for 2 years at least is a clinical goalscorer. Lee Hughes gives us that threat. The constant booing by your lot didn't stop him scoring on saturday and he had a full season of in League 1 with Oldham last season too.

The biggest surprise for me about the game on saturday was not the result, it was the size of the crowd. Ok, it was a friendly, but against your biggest and most hated rivals....with Sven and the new regime in town for their first home game and the attendance is ONLY 12,040 and with 5,885 of those in the away section that leaves just 6,155 Notts supporters. I realise that 12,040 is almost double your best attendance for last season and 6,155 Notts supporters is still higher than last season's average Meadow Lane attendance.....but surely that figure is bitterly disappointing for Sven, Munto and Charlie Mc.
With the wage cap limiting spending to 60% of income surely to make any of this project successful Notts will need around 10,000 as an average attendance, depending on how much is available from Munto. But are Munto going to be prepared to support the club when the club's own supporters don't.
Now more than ever before it is time for you 'Pies followers to put your faith in your team and get down the Lane. Otherwise it could end in tears for you and laughter on the Red Side of the Trent.

Any of you's going to game tonight?
I am but in the away end of course!
I think it would be good to see the pies do well and maybe overtake forest in the promotion stakes eventually! Money talks look at Man City lately!

Money talks look at Man City lately! It doesn't guarentee anything though; a prime example being Liverpool. 19 years and counting isnt it?

Chelsea started with immediate possibility of Champs League football, County are at the absolute minimum 10 years away from it.

Well lets see wise boy, ( i take it with the venom you are either a manc or forest fan) i make it 5 CL cups and counting as well, money doesn't guarantee success you need to be able to blend these mercenaries, as big phil and avram grant both found out as i think Sparkie will come unstuck as well, but are you telling me the chance to buy top players for any division doesn't give a team an edge over the other ones! As for county who I have a lot of time for, watched the game and Hughes and Rogers were a disgrace if they look for fights in the league like they did friday night against youth players, then county will be down to ten men a lot next season!
