Ironically, he's now getting criticised for NOT letting McClaren do the same. Nothing ironic at all, certainly not from me. There's a difference in allowing a manager to spend a sensible and affordable amount of money in order to address short comings in the squad as opposed to allowing a manager to spend millions the club doesn't have. It's a sensible idea to have a sustainable youth policy, but it takes time for kids to develop but the team has challenged the last two seasons with virtually no investment for a place in the PL. The squad isn't too far off but Doughty's been burned previously and is being far too cautious.

I agree, but let's not pretend that Doughty wouldn't have been slammed if he hadn't given Platt the money. He spends it and gets criticised, he holds back and gets criticised.
Hardest job in football, being a chairman.
Ignoring the Davies-spin, Forest have spent more money in the past 3 years than 90% of the championship. All that without any kind of parachute payments nor having sold any players worth a damn.

Hardest job in football, being a chairman. Absolutely! Its a given that the 'Acquisition Panel' even exists because of managers like David Platt so what does he do?.............. such a thin line to tread.

The TAP doesn't even exist any more apparently.

The TAP doesn't even exist any more apparently. Lord Nig said it has been relaxed. For me the problem the problem with Pleat is he needs to decide if he wants to be a footballing consultant for Forest, or a media man. To me it is a clear conflict of interest.

...or a football consultant for Tottenham, for which he also gets paid apparently.

Sounds like they put up a fight at Southampton today but ultimately lost.
5 points from 18. Need a win soon.

Found sounded creative and apparently were moving the ball around nicely and were unlucky not to have a spot kick had three appeals turned down two from Derbyshire and one from Miller. However whenever the Saints got forward it was the same old story. Wouldn't surprise me in December or January if Camp hands in a transfer request.

Camp will be alright. He's just got his head messed up a bit. Put it this way, he's been playing away from home quite often lately...

Abysmal defence. Still need those two centre halves and a leftback.
Losing 2-1 at home to ten man Derby isn't acceptable.
Edit to add; not much in the way of midfield ceativity or a goal threat either.

I missed the second goal so i cant speak about that, but the first goal was absolutely dreadful!! i could'nt believe my eyes!! continue to concede goals like that and its definite relegation, there's no doubt about it. The lack of endeavor against a team that spent 88mins with ten men was so frustrating, starting to wonder if Greening can actually play a ball forward. i don't really remember Forest testing their 2nd keeper at all which is worrying.... Doesn't matter if this was Derby or any other championship team, the manner of this performance was really really bad.

No we are bad, we ve gone backwards fast, the fans are losing patience fast, it was no where near a sell out at home against our biggest rivals, the club is rotten to the core .
The game yesterday was shocking as a spectacle

Currently Forest look and feel like a team ripe for relegation. I followed the game on twitter yesterday and the guy who was giving tweets reckoned there was no fight in the side which, if true, is very worrying so early on in the season.

No Pidge, we're not a bottom three team. Not close. We're not a top half team though. Cohen to miss the hole season with his Knee injury. Clint Hill has come in on loan from QPR for 3 months as cover. Good signing in my opinion, a bit of a blessing in disguise really because playing Cohen out of position in defense was just a waste for me.

Bad game, but a win's a win. Totally agree with you. Though Hill looked the part. Well we played ever so well against the toon army and were so unlucky not to take it to a shootout, and now a scrappy win, is lady luck starting to smile?

What a bloody masterstroke it was by Doughty when he sacked Billy Davies.

wonder what odds we can get on County and Forest playing each other next year....
I'd say slim since we (County) look organised and are getting results and Forest look like a sunday league team. Chances are, we'll be playing Championship football bext year (We can hope anyway!!!)
