as a liverpool fan have strong feelings against ever bringing. back terracing,
the problem with the premiere is simple the players earn rediculous amounts of money per week,
the cost of the tickets reflects that and ordinary fans are priced out for what keane called the prawn sandwich brigade.
We hear a lot about how good the standard of football is but la liga is on par with it and a lot cheaper to watch.
So basically no terraces but lower prices some clubs have realised this I.e. Bolton

Barely any chance at all. And the recent trouble in Europe made it even less likely.
Incidentally Liverpool's new Kop will hold 18,000 seats and have a designated singing area. They are introducing a singing area for next season in the existing Kop.

People seem to have forgotten that atmospheres with terraces were crap sometimes too.

One end of each stadium being terrace would not really hurt anything. the way that barriers are now able to prevent crowd surging and that there are nolonger fencing preventing people escaping onto the pitch means terraces are safer than ever.
History couldnt repeat itself due to those two factors. Things do need to change on and off the pitch and terraces would be a welcome bonus, i find that when i used to see leeds play ide rather stand than sit, so having say the revvie stand a standing terrace again where 90% of the game fans stand anyway wouldnt make a difference. Charge less per head, but cause more fit in the clubs gain more as those extra heads spend on food etc at the games. Thus clubs actually gain more. It's logical imo.

I do prefer standing too, there's nothing like going to Stockport or Eastwood (the first two that came to mind) and standing through the match. However, when the game is a bit pants it grates a little and it'll only improve the atmosphere if people start singing again (which is the real problem here, not the way the fans are kept).
It'll probably coincide with a resurgance in hooliganism and would cost a lot to achieve a little. It's not that great an idea.

dont really see how it would cost alot? other than cutting out the seating and putting barriers up in the right places. and the little to me is not little, it's massive especially at a place like Elland road where the south stand and the cop have chanting comps, the cop is always full though and if it was standing and we had double in there the noise would be intimidating to opposing teams, i think it would make home advantage more of a deciding factor, as at times it doesnt matter home or away as some grounds it's the same atmosphere, dead and boring even with good play on the pitch. I think standing would add that spark again, even if it's only in certain stadium and certain sections of the stadiums.

I'm not sure if you quite appreciate how much ripping out seating, sorting out new segregation and barriers and the like would cost. You're forgetting that at Leeds, if you put terracing in, it would look even emptier.

thats a risk if i was in charge ide be willing to take, although if it's done in the old cop (don revvie stand) then it will fill, as that stand is fileld every game anyways.

It would take twice as many people to fill it though JSD.
I don't know. If terracing brings about the much-desired price reduction in tickets then i'm all for it. If not, then it aint worth it.

I like the idea of bringing back some terracing but in todays world of family orientated football you couldnt really take the seats out of more than one stand. As Upshall said, anything that might bring down ticket prices is ok with me (although i only paid £199 for my season ticket watching prem football! Could try it out at elland road, im sure they can find plenty of experianced seat smashers to clean out the kop seats for free ;D * *Sorry JSD i couldnt resist ;D
