This was taken from this article in today's South Wales Echo. That's a massive boost for the league if indeed correct. A post on THF from someone at last night's meeting in Cardiff where it was discussed also says -

It would be good if it included a deal for supporters travel as well.

SEVEN seasons? - OK, now that's fairly impressive! Wonder if there'll be anything in the way of discounts on flight tickets for fans, or if that'll only be for clubs? Still don't see why (if that particular rumour is true) this should have delayed the fixtures announcements.... now, no doubt, delayed even more by the shenanigans in Cardiff.

certainly true about the sponsorship, although i had no idea it was for 7 seasons!!! Its due to the new sponsor being BMIBaby that the announcement has taken so long, i believe they wanted to clear up some of the issues with pilot strikes before they made the announcement! I also believe BMI are going to go over board with the announcement in the national media... again another reason why the fixtures have been delayed as its all to be announced at once, so as to maximise the sports national exposure. someone in the big office in birmingham has a big heart for ice hockey it seems...
I believe that the teams will benefit massively from the deal, indeed to the point where a large %age of the flights will be free... as im led to believe anyway.

Speculation this but Perhaps the delay is becuase the EIHL can't annonce the sposorship deal with BMI whilst they have potential industrial action going on. Perhaps the deal includes discount flights and the league don't want to publish the fixtures becuase fans will book with other low cost airlines?

The paragraph has now been removed from the SWE site. Did someone let something slip a little too early?

Surely if they let the fans know about a sponsorship low cost deal FIRST then we could have all booked with BMI to games. Fixtures please.
The wider deal could have been done later. Much later perhaps if disputes are still around.

Brilliant news on the sponsorship deal - and also means I can stop badgering our sponsorship team at work to put themselves forward!
I don't profess to have any inside knowledge or anything, but I imagine the delay in the fixtures being announced was solely due to the problems in Cardiff. I think the sponsorship thing has just been used as a convenient excuse - could be wrong though.

They are based at NEMA and Donington Hall, Castle Donington. They have also kept it quiet from within the company also.

This is a signature on Steeltalk: Whilst it is meant to be a joke about Panthers not making the playoffs - regarding the flights to Canada - and is meant to be a bit of fun, I personally think its disrespecting of the league's new sponsor. Call me grumpy if you like

Interesting to note that I emailed Elite for an answer as to why there is a delay in fixtures and that this might effect next seasons ticket sales (season) as .....First we have to buy one lightyears before we know of anything (from a club) remotely as to playing team...Then the League won't tell us anything on fixtures never mind why. As you can guess I had no electronic answer. Why the heck should anyone want to support the sport in sponsorship if this is the kind of response. Why should we trust in anything they say, promise or advise? When they next ask anything of me I may refer to these points in an email I know won't get a reply.

If the fixtures are meant to be a secret why did I have one of those fixture cards produced by Panthers pushed through my door yesterday?!

More than likely I assume it will be announced Monday. But don't bet heavily at the bookies. So in your diaries everyone ...Monday.
