Well, where to start.
Dan Dorion – perhaps the purest goal scorer we've ever had. He had an uncanny ability to put the puck in the net seemingly without trying. If you think Joe Cardarelli is sharp, you should have seen this guy. He had a long striding, apparently effortless skating style that took him clear of defenders before burying the puck. He was interesting to look at as well - short, a mop of hair that stuck out from under his helmet and yards and yards of tape around his ankles. He had a very laid back personality more in keeping with Haight-Ashbury or Woodstock. I've also never seen anyone who could distribute mucous over such a wide area while sitting a penalty. What a character he was. One of my Panther heroes.
Jaroslav Sevcik – a short term signing to cover injury, he only played 7 games but made a huge impression. He struck up an immediate understanding with Paul Adey and got 9+9 and no PIMS before disappearing into the ether.
Darren Schwartz – came here with a fearsome reputation as a hard man, but we never saw it because he went home almost straight away, and while he was here no opponents would go near him.
Kord Cernich – defender from Alaska (I think). He was released part way through the season but not before he bagged an unlikely hat-trick against Murrayfield.
Mike Blaisdell – The Guv’ner.
Marc Twaite – really liked Marc and was sorry he left.
Steve Salter – another player that makes the eyes of old timers like me glaze over. Has his place in history as the scorer of the winner against Streatham here in October 1984 for our first win over the Londoners in three years and 24 matches. Lovely, lovely man as well.
Dave Graham – goalie from Whitley Bay whose banner season in 1988/89 was a big reason we won the Championship. Dave was a big fella who fiercely defended his crease by whatever means necessary, which was highly entertaining and got him nearly 50 PIMS that season, a lot for a goalie.
