There’s been some good players had this shirt.
Shaun Wood – hardman.
Randy McClinchy – tremendously exciting Canadian but whose positive influence on the ice was apparently inversely proportional to the ructions he caused in the dressing room (sound familiar?).
Chris Kelland – another example of a despised opponent who came here to a hero’s welcome.
Ashley Tait – fine player. I was really sad when he left.
Steve McKenna – a larger than life character who generated tons of publicity for us. I wish he was still here too.
Actually, I’ve just remembered a great Kelland story. Many years ago, when I was scorer on match nights, I had to take the game sheet into the dressing rooms after the game for the respective captains to sign. It was a bit hairy at times, I can tell you. Anyway, one time we had played Murrayfield and as Chris was the captain I went in to get his signature. He was starkers (steady, ladies), and as he stood looking over the sheet, he absent-mindedly started to scratch his twig-and-berries with the non-business end of my pen. I let him keep it.
