Shelley will be a fan favourite because he's a heart & souler. Not the most talented player, but puts his body on the line for his team.
You can't ask for much more than that IMO

Shelley also has a little history with McKenna... having just downloaded a couple of vids from a Shelley site I think he might have a few scores to settle with McKenna ;D since looking at both vids McKenna won the fights Hope he signs it will make our games over christmas extra interesting.

If he's here for Christmas then that should be an entertaining Boxing Day encounter

This player, that coach, this NHL player, that NHL player...... the list from the Stir goes on and on and on (I have to wonder if the Steelers themselves are getting a little bit sick of the endless speculations from that rag?).
Who gives a damn? They'll get who they get, or none at all - given the apparent financial situation (since none of us truly know) it could well turn out to be the latter..... Mr Double-Girlie-Name may turn out to be a total cement-head..... or find he can actually play - who knows?
As long as they don't go bust and let their fans down (and the rest of us), and as long as their walking rectum of a PR-bod keeps his rancid hole shut, I'm beginning to get to the stage of "who gives a toss?" about Them Up The M1. We've got a good team here in Nottingham that look capable of beating any and all - that's the important thing.

I have noticed while spending a lot of time looking on here, that you lot do seem to concentrate on us lot up the M1 than your own lot, strange.

You're right, Sometimes every other thread seems to be about Sheffield ... even if it doesn't start that way. It's not even as if there's been a Panthers Steelers clash recently .... It is starting to become a little tiresome ... especially for the forum moderators

It is starting to become a little tiresome ... especially for the forum moderators Very true, which is the main reason I rarely post on here anymore. At the moment it's very frustrating/demoralising being a Steelers supporter because of the ownership situation (I want Norton out), the last thing I want to read is others getting a great deal of delight out of the situation. As for us getting this Shelley guy, I hope it happens because he'd be another body to our line-up (Bobbyck will be out for quite a long time), but the way things have gone this season I'll be surprised if we do get him. Whilst I'm taking the time to post, congratulations to Nottingham on an excellent effort in Europe and recent league performances. I suspect the league title will be between Nottingham (who I've now made favourites), Coventry (my pre season favourites) and Cardiff (who I think may yet fall away). Looking at your next few fixtures I expect you to remain unbeaten until mid December, that should give you a nice lead in the title race, but the defining point in your season could well be late December/early January, because that's when you have a lot of tough fixtures. I've got my ticket for the Boxing Day encounter ;D, let's hope both games over the Christmas period offer the supporters some great entertainment. Regards Doom

Regards Doom Very True, I'm already looking at those 6 games in 15 days(19th Dec-2nd Jan) and I'd take 8 points now. Keep the players off the xmas pud Paul I hope Sheffield get this Shelley guy, every elite team should have their own piece of the NHL. Cheers for the kind words Doom and here's to you guys getting a good owner but no points (off us) over Christmas.

I'll be surprised if Shelley is the answer to any of the Steelers questions at the mo (he is in the NHL for one thing only), but as Anton so rightly said, he is a "heart and soul" type guy, and we all know what effect that kind of guy can have on a team. Lets just see, shall we?

Well Steelers' defining point must be the next 12 games, all against Elite league teams and only four at home. Ouch!! If you get more than 12 points out of that you will have done well. Just hope your right about us being unbeaten until mid-December.

oh id love to be in the dressing room on boxing day when there going through the tactics, "so make sure you watch out for dion and jody...." anyway id like to see craighead take on a few of these nhlers, we have a very very good fighter in our roster and i wouldnt personally mind seeing adey let him loose on a couple of occasions to 'ruffle the feathers' of the opposition, dont get me wrong i dont mean to the extent of the guildford game

Serious question for you, Doom...... IF the Steelers sign Shelley, and IF he turns out to be.... a little 'feisty' shall we say? ... in all seriousness - how do you rate the Steelers' penalty kill? (and defence overall). You have to admit that it's a legitimate concern - bring in a player with a known acquaintance with the sinbin, and you can expect a fair few penalties to kill. Just wondering what your thoughts are on the matter.....

Our powerplay is also a serious problem, probably the worst I've ever seen. Regards Doom

I have noticed while spending a lot of time looking on here, that you lot do seem to concentrate on us lot up the M1 than your own lot, strange. So opposition fans can't talk about their rivals, their main rivals for that matter?! I don't think so HelenB & it's not like anything to do with Panthers is a no no on your own forums. But the anti-Steelers trash IS starting to become more & more, and as BJ rightly points out, it's tiresome for us mods, and those who read this site too.

thats what i meant. i see more postings on here about the steelers / anti steelers whatever than anywhere else. There's nowhere near as many threads about panthers on steel talk. I don't mind you talking about your main rivals but it seems to appear in every thread.
BACK ON TOPIC Shelley will be good signing for us and hopefully he will be here for this weekend and make the 19th and 26th vs you guys extra interesting especially in the pre match build up. I can't wait to see hm an McKenna get it on, or at least have a few pot shots at each other.

I think he'll do well for you & your fans will take to him as from what I have read about him, he seems to one of those players the fans make into a cult hero.
