The only problem I have found is you can only block one person at a time. Guess its a toss up at the moment then. You sure? I seem to be able to block more than one person at a time.

I managed to block two, but then when I blocked a third the other two re-appeared. This is on a couple of different computers that I have tried it, and started from scratch each time.

How RUDE is this?
If you were sat at the hockey chatting away to the people next to you, or in front or behind, you might not know their names or much about them, but you sit near them for the game/games and every time you pass an opinion, or ask something, nobody replies because they have all chosen to ignore you.
----------
I realise that other users may have a different opinion on this, like anything else, but everyone has that right. As they have the right to use the button. For the time being i will not use the button, as I feel that everyone has not only the right to an opinion, but also the right to express it to everyone else.
Whether the post is badly spelled or worded,(dyslexia is not stupidity or ignorance - not using spellcheck is!) or is from someone who tends not use paragraphs or punctuation. Or from a user who is usually pessimistic or aggressive in their attitude. Or from someone who is repetitive or drivels on and on. Even those users who get into an argument on thread (eg. pidge/tunster)....
....all of them can and have in the past, posted a decent opinion (yes, even tunster). Use this facility sensibly, don't let your opinion get in the way of someone else's, you may be missing out.
Remember, it is rude to ignore people.

Do you read all your spam? Do you read everyone's blog?
All our time is finite. The way I see it, everyone has a right to voice their opinion and everyone has a right to choose which opinions they pay attention to. If I go to a hockey game and end up sat near someone who shouts a load of drivel every game, there's a limit to how many games I'll sit in that area of the arena for (usually 3 or 4 depending on how annoying they are). I'm not going to point fingers, but there are areas that I avoid in the NIC for this reason.

I feel that everyone has not only the right to an opinion, but also the right to express it to everyone else. Yes you have the right to express and air your opinions on here as does everyone else. You don't however have the right to expect everyone to read your opinions. There is a difference. I do agree for the mostpart that ignorance is a form of rudeness but the facility here is for those who have issues with an individual poster who is just downright annoying. Nothing sinister and it is still only on for a trial period. If it doesn't work or poeple decide they don't like it then it may well be removed. Nothing lasts indefinately.

For the record, I think the idea is infantile and immature, a definite backward step for people who want to be cossetted in a little world of their own making - but I doubt anyone read that anyway.

Congratulations on deriding a good number of posters who have chosen to use this option.

Did you say something Luca? For the record, I think the idea is infantile and immature, a definite backward step for people who want to be cossetted in a little world of their own making - but I doubt anyone read that anyway. That seems a very embittered attack on people who choose to exercise a freedom of choice that doesn't happen to coincide with your views.

What gives us the right to free speech, also gives us the right to ignore. Surely it’s as simple as posters feeling comfortable and enjoying this forum and if some achieve that by putting a few other posters on ignore, then so be it. It’s no skin off my nose (as the saying goes)

There are many occasions when I'm scrolling through a thread that I get fed up of certain posters who turn legitimate threads into personal "tit-for-tats" which add nothing to the debate, and, as has already been said appear more like an MSN conversation. The problem is that, occasionally, these same posters make valid points which DO contribute, and you can't judge a post without reading it.
"I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it" (attributed to Voltaire) comes to mind.
I personally would love to see an automatic deletion of posts full of grammatical and spelling errors, of which there are many on this forum. My particular bugbear is the phrase "He would of....." when it should read "He would have.......". Gripe over, and ignoring no-one!

If the Mods had the facility to add such a 'Delete Post' option, I am [glow=red,2,300]sure they would of[/glow]! I'll ask him, but I don't think he will be very keen. Uh, he's already got one, you see.

From what I've before it seems that some posters can't handle a fair debate, claiming it to be trolling, everyone has the right to express their opinon but no body is forced to read other peoples opinons.
