I'm not sure if this feature was ever on the Cage Forum, but from a while ago I can remember a facility where you could turn off a particular members posts. It may have been a different board, but feel if the facility exists with Proboards that it is made available.
Filtering through countless messages of drivel from a number of regular posters is getting quite boring now, and the ability to turn off their posts would certainly increase my enjoyment of the forum.

Would there be anything worth reading?? ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png) Seriouslyy folks, got this on a couple of forums I did or do mod and it works quite well. The only downside is you tend to then have threads that just don't make sense and lots of repeated information as poster A posts what poster B, who he has blocked, posted an hour ago etc. Worth go though.

Interesting thought Milkman. I wonder who they want to ignore? I don't know, probably me, there are not many of us Lair posters left, or early pioneers of the Cage, wont be the first time I have been banned. Why not go for a board where us over 18's can play alone, most forums nowadays have this. Just seems like a witch hunt to me ![](http://www.ideagrove.com/blog/uploaded_images/monty_python_witch-795496.jpg)

I agree with you Milkman. Been "banned" a few times myself for stating an opinion. I too wish there was a more "over 18's" board, if not an over 18's attitude to this one, but we can only deal with what we have. At the end of the day all the name calling and difference of opinion is so many ones and zeroes and, for the life of me, I don't understanhd why people get so uptight about it. But they do. The only attitude to have, imho, is say what you think and be yourself. If you get banned, then so be it. You have no one to blame but yourself. I do think that the "block poster" button idea is daft though. In effect you have one in your head anyway because you don't have to read any post. Each one is labelled with the poster's name.

Luca, we agree what ever next.
Its like the TV you flick through the channels, watch what you want, ignore what you don't.
We have been down this road many times in the past, and lost many a good poster through it, if Panthers is your thing and you want censorship then go to the elite forum, see if you can guess who I am on there.
If anyone posts offensive posts towards other users, resorts to petty name calling, or ganging up on other users, is that not just bullying. Its becoming more and more like a private club. at least in days of old , the BHM and EDA all knew other, and welcomed new users with open arms, whatever their views, we drank, partied and travelled to away games together.
What happens if a guy in the pub or at school has an opinion you don't like?, been banned, ignored or reported for having an opinion, is not really very grown up is it.
If that's the way people want it then so be it, I'll go with the majority.

Its not like watching tv at all.
Lets say you wanted to watch a film and every thirty seconds they chucked some opera in, then a bit more film and then some of Coronation Street, a bit more film and then some teletubbies. You would give up with it and would not bother watching something that you wanted to.
A filter button is not always going to be used to stop you seeing controversial threads, its going to stop you seeing drivel that is continually posted by certain members.
If such a facility is introduced then its a simple choice as to whether you use it or not - much the same way as you say you can choose who's posts to read.
I never suggested banning people. There are a number of posters who I would not want to ban despite their controversial postings as they quite often keep me entertained!

So heres a thought as this facility seems to be desired by several posters (as much as i dont like some i still read what they post on the off chance we might agree afterall) why not just come straight out with it and people just state who this would be used against?...

whats the point of naming who you would block? it's not going to resolve anything and as Inder said would end up with the board in flames.

I agree to a certain degree, but would this forum be any good if you could only see posts from the people you agree with?

Maybe better, as was suggested to me by another forum member, is a limit on posts per thread. Say, 3? It is true though, the mindless drivel factor appears to be increasing. What annoys me most is the "conversations" people have on threads, rendering them awful to get any sense out of.
