Bought an ipod photo last week and I immediatly had some problems. My USB is only 1.0 and I can't update to the latest version of XP. However none of this seemed to matter as I successfly moved some music onto the ipod.
Unfortunately I then deleted my Library and so lost everything! I've tried to tranx 170songs (750MB) but it won't transfer. On itunes it shows all the songs as being transferred and on my ipod [under settings/about] it says capacity 55.7GB and available 54.9GB which would imply that the musci has been stored. But I have no songs to play. I don't even have the different playlists such as 90s music or Recently added although I did have them originally before I wiped the Library.
I've just uninstalled and reinstalled itunes but when I opened itunes it looked exactly as the same before with all the music listed.
Now I'm completely lost!

Ok If you have the music backed up somewhere (or the originals) this is an easy one. Run the ipod updater program that you got on the disk, or download it from apple.com this will let you reset the ipod back to its factory state, and we can start all over from the begining. In itunes (which btw is pants for windows, you could look at using mediaplayer or winamp) there is an option to keep the ipod synched with your library, i personally would not do this, but would add music manually to it, as and when. The best place to get some help and advice is www.ipodlounge.com the forums there are very good, and we may bump into each other. Dont blame the ipod for this, its a great little machine, just not that brilliant with windoze thats all.

Ok If you have the music backed up somewhere (or the originals) this is an easy one. I've got 70GB of dl music stored away between two hard discs. Run the ipod updater program that you got on the disk, or download it from apple.com this will let you reset the ipod back to its factory state, and we can start all over from the begining. Where do I find updater on my apple disc? I've again tried to reinstall everything but it just takes me back to having a library full of music. In itunes (which btw is pants for windows, you could look at using mediaplayer or winamp) there is an option to keep the ipod synched with your library, i personally would not do this, but would add music manually to it, as and when. I like windows media player but it doesn't seem that itunes is my problem. I go into library/file/update ipod and it seems to update my ipod. It says on itunes it is updating and the little ipod icon flashes red. But nothing is registering in my actual ipod. Having said that memory is being used it would seem but no songs are playable. The best place to get some help and advice is www.ipodlounge.com the forums there are very good, and we may bump into each other. Dont blame the ipod for this, its a great little machine, just not that brilliant with windoze thats all. I've been in the lounge and read the tutorials. But it is all based on the fact that my ipod should update. It doesn't and it's doing my head in! All it does is continue to flash the 'hazard' symbol and tell me not to disconnect. I know it can't be faulty as it has transferred songs before.
