I've only seen one gig at the NIC and I'm embarrassed to admit that it was Simply Red! In my defence though it was as a gift for my brother AND it was the opening night and I wanted to check out the Panthers new home with people in it as soon as I could! I have seen the Phonics and Coldplay at Newcastle Arena though and I have to say the Phonics live show was superior...as good as Coldplay were. I won't vote though, don't want to skew the findings for the NIC!

Seen a few.
Rammstein - will take some beating.
Faithless - A band I wanted to see for years & they didn't dissapoint.
Blink 182 - Worst of the bunch
Oasis - They didn't seem bothered, & I wish I hadn't.
Iron Maiden - Ok - safe & predictable.
Texas - VERY good
Pink - Another AMAZING show. Would certainly go see her again.
Savage Garden - The 1st show I saw at the Arena. Suprisingly good.
Duran Duran - Saw them on both visits. Good on both occasions. The original line-up back together last year was good stuff.
The Corrs - saw 'em when they were still good. Front row with Sharon & Andrea in fron of me was a nice 'pleasant' evening.

Soz Rachel.... but Blink 182 REALLY was the worst gig I ever went to. It was utter dross. It was marginally saved by Travis's drum solo in the middle of the floor..but not quite. It was just noise, & devoid of any tune (God I sound like my dad!). The only requirement was that it was loud & fast. The 'kids' lapped it up (The sort of kids that hang around in the Market Square on a Saturday afternoon.... the girls all look like Avril Lavigne, & the boys all 'Bill & Ted' like). It seemed all the 'kids' were interested in was being seen to be there. Ahhhhhh the joys of youth! Oasis?. I REALLY REALLY like their albums, & had wanted to see them live for ages. They just came across as not really wanting to be there, & were simply going through the motions. I wouldn't see them again. A big dissapointment.

Off the list above i've only see The Darkness and Stereophonics at the arena, i think i'll go for Stereophonics being the better of the two gigs. I can't believe Greenday arn't included in tha list, they definatley are the best band i've seen at the NIC.
I've seen Muse and Radiohead yet not at the arena, Muse are amazing live... but Radiohead are just unblievable. Of all the bands i've seen in my life they've ripped every single one to shreds, I've never experienced an atmosphere like it before. Songs such as Paranoid Android and Karma Police blew me away.
As for Oasis, i though the same as Wigwam, i saw them at glastonbury, probably one of the biggest gigs bands play in thier life... yet they still looked like they'd didn't give a damn. Technically great, but there was no link between band and crowd, if i could throw a Melon that far it would have hit Liam right in the head.

Muse were fantastic, possibly the best live set i have ever seen in my life and i've seen what must be upwards of two hundred live bands play. Bellamy is an absolute genius, singing his haunting tunes whilst riffing away on his beauty of a guitar and playing one handed tunes on the keyboard really takes some doing. The stage wasn't bad either.

I have been to 1000's of gigs in my time (Averaged about 3 a week in my youth) - but those are the ones I have been to at the Arena. Other mememorable (NON NIC) ones include
Bruce Sprinsteen - Tunnel Of Love Tour (Bramall Lane- Sheffield). The guy had NO support act & played for well over 3 hours.
Ezio - Last year @ The Maze on Mansfield Rd.
Thirteen Senses - Rescue Rooms
The Mission - Manchester Apollo (Carved In Sand Tour)
Keane - Rock City (Last November)
Faith No More - Rock City
The Mission - Rock City (Gods Own Medicine Tour)
The Mission - Birmingham NEC ( Children Tour)
Big Country - Lincoln Ritz (The Sear Tour)
U2 - Wembley Stadium (Joshua Tree, & Pop Mart Tour)
U2 - Cariff Arms Park (Joshua Tree Tour)
U2 - Birmingham NEC (Achtung Baby, & Elevation Tour)
Iona - Sheffield Leadmill
Paul Carrack - Sheffield Leadmill
The Ramones - Rock City
Toploader - Derby Assembly Rooms
Inxs - Rock City
Genesis - Royal Concert Hall
& too many others to mention.
Seeing Ezio again in a few weeks @ The Rescue Rooms (Can highly reccomend them).
I am also massively looking forward to seeing Lorna @ The Malt Cross on May 27th...if I can swop a shift!
The BIG one has to be U2 (for the millionth time) @ The Millenium Stadium - supported by The Killers, on June 29th.

My fave concert at my second home has to be Pink, she was out of this world. She wrapped herself in what looked like a rather big ribbon and slowly unravelled herself whilst singing. Now I can't sing never mind the ribbon bit, but to do them both together and to keep in tune WOW Can't wait to see her again. Also being an original Durany I have to say Duran Duran were fantastic- long live Simon Le Bon

It has to be gatecrasher without a shadow of a doubt, even thou not on the list both events were out of this world, Paul Van Dyk and Marco V at the first one in november and DJ Tiesto,Ferry Corsten and Eddie Halliwell at the may bank holiday one were outstanding!

Gatecrasher???. How can a pomped up 'disco' be called a gig? I really never understood the superstar DJ thing (Maybe it's my age! ). Why get excited by a man OR woman (Lisa Lashes..is pretty fit). They spin records..big deal!. You wouldn't base a trip to the Cinema on who the projectionist was would ya?. Kid 1: ''Oi maaaaate..fancy going to the flicks tonight?.'' Kid 2 : ''Naah I aint feeling upto it'' Kid 1: '' But..Nobby is the projectionist tonight....he spins some well crucial films'' Kid 2: ''Ahhhhhhh man...that's soo radical..Nobby is the man. Count me in dude. This is wellllllllllll wicked''
