If you don't mind what job and you're not too bothered about the money, then if you live near town the easiest and quickest way to get a job is to walk round with a stack of CVs and go to every pub, restaurant and shop you come across asking if they need staff.
That's how I found a holiday job after my A levels. I spent an afternoon going round handing in CVs and filling in applications. I had 3 job offers the day after.

However, if it's a career you're looking for rather than a job then you're really much better off trying to decide what you want to do before you start looking for a job. Maybe ask a few places if you could do a few weeks work experience in your chosen career or something.

You're basically saying "I'm not sure I want a job with your company, but if you can make the effort to come and offer me one I might take it..." That attitude wont impress many employers

you could always ring Mr. Black or Mr. Huckstep, the latter is probably keen to have someone who works in the catering, who knows what the customers want and like. or maybe a cleaner, so when you are in the offices you could get all the news and gossip up front. CUSTOMER SERVICES Mr Black is looking for some help on the coaching side of things down at the NIC, does involve weekend work though. SPORTS COACH Failing that Mr Megson at the City Ground is looking for some talent, or should i say someone who is fit got a good attitude and likes to play a bit of footie. PROFESSIONAL SPORTSMAN other than that theres always the jobcenter website, and if its not raining you could pop down to the jobcentre, ive heard they are really helpful.

i no weve talked about stuff like this before tim...but if your unsure what you want to do...then perhaps you should go to agencys for work...i no some are a waste of time and space, but the one i work for at the moment are extremely helpful, proffesional and give you a lot of support.
try adecco on market street (next to reflex) and see what they have to offer.
i chose agency work as im waitin to go into the forensics with the police (C.S.I) and i didnt fancy the commitment of permanent work because im not to sure when ill get my chance to do my trainin through the Forensic service up in durham.
theres also..pertemps, harpers and manpower....in the city centre...just go down with a c.v. and a form of photo i.d. so they can add you into their system.
good luck mate.
