Alex Porayas has brought the short story written by Issac Asimov to the BIG screen with "some to spare".
After doing a good job with the The Crow (which gained notoriety for the death of its star Brandon Lee) and then "cut his teeth" with a bigger budget film Dark City starring Kiefer Sutherland, but with this source material he has been been given a HUGE budget and a HUGE star in the shape of Will Smith and he has delivered a REAL BLOCKBUSTER in everyway.
There are thrillls, spills and it has moments that actually "touch" you, and normally in a film of this size, that doesnt happen.
Every cent that was spent on this film, is up there on the screen.
Go and see it.

I disagree.... I was seriously looking forward to this film. I ended up seriously dissapointed instead. It seems to be yet another film that has style & effects over story. It's not a bad film..it's just not a very good film either.

Dont get me wrong, In no way am I saying this is a "perfect" film. Its well made the effects are top notch and as long as you leave your brains at the popcorn counter (along with your wages!) you will be okay. I went to see the new Thunderbirds movie with a mate of mine (YES, I have got them!) and he came away a bit disapointed. I didnt, I sat there and imagined myself as a ten year old lying on the living room floor staring up at the TV. It was everything the poster, trailer and hype said it would be. A kids film that adults will in some way will be able to connect with because of the history that comes with the film. Thats why in recent years adults have been dissapointed with the new Star Wars films, they havent sat there with the same innocence that we had when we first watched them as children. Yes, the dialogue is dire. But as a child you dont see that, you marvel at what you are seeing and you look at the big story. Of course, no-one has to agree with me and to be honest I'd be bloody stunned if people did.

I've heard good things about I, Robot but I shall have to wait till I have seen it. I would however recommend Spider Man 2, a film that was better than the original.

No, no, no I, Robot was exactly how I imagined it would be from the trailer: naff and cheesy. Asimov's stories were not brought to the big screen, just the basic idea from them. And if by "some to spare", you mean they added a load of cheesy Hollywood one-liners, and a gratuitous naked-Will-Smith-in-the-shower-scene, then yes, you've got no arguments from me. I'm no film reviewer, so I'll leave it to the experts - here's a quote from eFilmCritic which I think is pretty much spot on: Here's a link to the rest of the review: linkThere were times when I actually laughed at how bad this film was. The CGI looks good though *shrug*
