I'm shocked! He didn't show any signs of illness while presenting countdown. God bless and regards to his family.

I am shocked! Just when they said he was recovering! My mum (Lucy) is going to be on countdown in September but it wont be the same without him! His jokes were funny coz they were so bad! lol RIP Richard, the first man on channel 4!!

I was looking forward to meeting him in September.
The 'guest presenters' was going to be a temporary thing, as he was expected back, so maybe the programme won't continue after all.

I'll be honest and admit I'd never heard of him before today. A sad time for any family and friends though. First person to appear on 4. He has been on British tv more times than anybody else! He actually became an icon of UK tv. He always seemed like, and apparently was, as nice a guy as you could meet. A damn shame.

It just goes to show you that you never know what's around the corner (although with things like this knowing doesn't help much).

he suffered from very bad asthema, and had been suffering from pneumonia and had an infected heart valve, which apparently they were operating on when he passed away.
i didnt watch countdown much but its always a sad time when someone dies, R.I.P.
