Well from reading THF apparently it was a fight during warm up and someone called the police for some reason.

Does anyone out there know what actually happened? It doesn't give too much away.

Well put simply from what i can find (quote from someone on THF)
'Player A tries to attack player B. Player C gets in the way and cops an injury and ends up going to hospital. Player B then thumps player A who started it all and injured his team mate. Player B & C coach is not happy with the first attack and calls the Police. Player A then makes a counter charge against player B for the retaliation attack'
Also another quote of that site
'From my understanding, Irvine was aiming for Ward and that is who he sticked in the face (which could have taken Ward's eye out). Chinn did not thump anyone. In answer to your previous question regarding where it happened, Irvine was skating up and down the centre line, Ward was skating around the Jets half of the ice (as all players do during warm up). As Ward approached centre ice during his circling of the ice, Irvine swung his stick at his face. To me, that means that the incident was pre-meditated by Irvine'

Either way it must have been out of order for someone to phone the police.

There had been trouble at the end of the game between the 2 teams on the saturday night,
so it seems it boiled over to the sunday night.

it was the talk of the rink at p'boro on sunday. Apparently... there was an incident involving Irvine, Ward, and chinn in the warm up, where ward was hit by a stick Cue 'bit of a scuffle.' Slough then refused to play on until irvine was removed. they also retreated back to teh dressing room a couple of times. The police were called by the ref in fear of his safety. Ward was taken to hospital, but returned late in the game. He received a cut lip. Irvine and Chinny arrested - dunno what Nicky did. Ref felt he could not deal with it as it was part of the warm up rather than the game itself.

Romford V Scims match on saturday also got called off with 2 minutes to go due to some Romford fans chucking coins at the Scims bench.. That is out of order, absolutely shocking! Looks like the "minority" is out in force in epl.

wonder who started the donkey v ndur thing..... I guess you are implying payette in that. The same payette who hands pucks to young fans of panthers in warm up. Funny, never see any other players do that. Or the fact andre does that mentioned. Andre also probably spends more time with fans than any other player in the vipers, and if he is missing games for whatever reason often sits in the fans section. He is a decent bloke off the ice, whatever you think of him on it. I cant see him starting anything unless provoked

i have seen him hand out pucks too Rangers and big up to him for that however, it still doesnt make him a nice guy and he is still a prat on the ice far too often for me to want him in a panthers shirt...

I'm sure the ref can deal with the situation and deal out Match penalties even if the game hasn't started yet as long as the players are dressed in their strips. I remember Mike Ware and Curtis Bowen getting thrown out of a game in London for going for each other during the warm up. When I'm playing football, if I do something before or after the match but I'm still wearing my kit, the ref can still card me. Surely the same rules apply in hockey.
