Is the Shuff leg at the HOS after all? What do you mean 'after all'? It never wasn't going to be! A major final with the games a month apart - only in Ice Hockey! And yes I do know it is not the fault of either club. To me it is just another indication as to the worth our 'homes' afford us. Ridiculus!

According to the Steelers Web Page it says the following:-
If they do not turn up for the 2nd Leg in Feb, do we get a 5 - 0 win? Ha! Ha!

What a Bad Marketing ploy by both camps . The opertunity to have a double header home and away weekend just before xmas weekend 22nd and 23rd December we play Newcastle at home on 22nd and coventry away 23rd Both these games could be played midweek at later fixture. Steelers play Basingstoke on the 22nd and the 23rd , again both games could be played midweek at later fixture. We are down to play at home on the 22nd to newcastle so arena is booked for us , and low and behold the steelers are playing the bison at Hallam arena on the 23rd so they have the arena booked for that date . NO EXCUSES Come on Gary and Simmsy its plain stupid not to Play it on that weekend , I am sure the league and the three teams involved in rearranged fixtures would if Compensated by league and clubs AGREE ? If we moan enough in both Camps they may see sense

Its the only window to get a weekend final as both arenas are booked ....2 WEEKS NOTICE , is enough tickets could be onsale within 4 days EASY . alowing season ticket holders to get their seats next weekend the 14th and 15th and , rest to go on sale 16th . Theve just wasted two days notice as steelers decided the tie on Wendsday ....plus they could have worked out the permatations before that and had a plan in place .
Did you know that the fourth round draw for the FA cup was drawn on the 14th of October and the matches played on the 27th October ....Thats just 13 days to print tickets and distribute them .

I'd take a 1 off final in Nottingham at the weekend.
I can't say that I'm all that enthused about week day games, it'll hit the attandance hard and it means an extra day off work.

I'm just glad that we appear to have the 2nd leg at home in the NIC Appear to ? We do have the home leg advantage. We earned it by leading the Group standing for the Semi-Finals! We should have had it for the Semi as well, but we had to book our home leg early due to fixture problems, so Newcastle was able to have the advantage. Not that it did them any good. Sheffield had the home advantage in their Semi with Cardiff and they capitalized on it. Semi Finals Standings 1. Nottingham 2 2 0 0 0 0 10 5 .. 4 points 5 GD 2. Sheffield 2 1 0 1 0 0 6 4 .. 3 points 2 GD 3. Cardiff 2 0 0 1 1 0 4 6 .. 1 point -2 GD 4. Newcastle 2 0 0 0 2 0 5 10 .. 0 point -5 GD

Thats a joke a major final with a month between each legs.. There must be a spare weekend it can be fit in somewhere jesus? Would make it far far better.. Its bad enough the final being in midweek then to have the two games a month apart, Seriously? Someones having a bubble bath here surely..

What a joke. Three games this week been announced for Wednesdays - I have a photography course on Wednesdays! The final should really be over a weekend and they keep rearranging weekend fixtures for wednesdays - a frickin joke. Chuffin Panthers (UN)organisation and flippin NIC stupid money grabbers. It's OUR money that paid for the NIC!

It's OUR money that paid for the NIC! You're being a bit selfish there...it was my money too, and for several reasons, I actually like midweek games. A month between games however, is 'kin madness.

The month between the 2 legs is ridiculcous!! Both being on a Wednesday is even worse!!
Just shows how much the Challange Cup is valued.
It should be done as a double header at the end of january!

How is that selfish? I said OUR money not MY money! We might not be at .500 hockey anymore but we are at .500 saturday night home games. It's simply not good enough. It would be interesting to know the percentage of home games that other teams play midweek. It's the National ICE Centre paid for by council taxes and ICE events should take priority.

We might not be at .500 hockey anymore but we are at .500 saturday night home games. It's simply not good enough. It would be interesting to know the percentage of home games that other teams play midweek. You asked for it... ;D Basingstoke (rink team) - 1 midweek home game all season. Belfast (arena team) - 9 midweek games if you count Friday nights as 'weekend'... 18 midweek games if you don't. Cardiff (rink team) - 5 midweek games. Coventry (rink team) - 3 midweek games. Edinburgh (rink team) - 1 midweek game. Hull (rink team) - 3 midweek games. Manchester (rink team) - 3 midweek games. Newcastle (arena team) - 4 midweek games (plus one Friday). Nottingham (arena team) - 10 midweek games (plus one Friday). Sheffield (arena team) - 7 midweek games (plus one Friday). (stats taken from the official EIHL website, includes ALL competitions)Looks to me like the arena teams, by and large, suffer roughly the same when it comes to midweek home games. As I recall, the contract the NIC has to fulfil is to provide a certain (quite large) percentage of its time to ice sports - not just ice hockey, neither. Nothing about when the events take place. I'm reliably informed that it more than meets this obligation... so they are fulfilling the terms of their contract - whether we like it or not.

The Panthers don't do league titles. Not even Carlsberg can manage that!

It was also paid by the lottery. It is there to serve the people of Nottinghamshire and beyond. It is everybody's facility; it is not the Panthers facility. There are over 600,000 people in Notts and most of them don't give a FF about ice hockey. I'm sure they'd like to get some of their monies-worth on weekends too.
