Steelers won 2 -0 making it 6-4 overall.
So the usual hype and tripe will be splashed about. Lets hope we can do it this time around.

i think its good for both franchises, i know the purest fans dont like the derby games. I however think they are more enjoyable due to the rivalry. bring it on, anyone know any possible dates yet?

Sheffield Steelers 2 Cardiff Devils 0 A mouthwatering Challenge Cup final awaits as Steelers overcame Devils to book dates with arch rivals Nottingham Panthers next month. With the first leg of this semi-final tied at 4-4 after the first game in Wales there was always going to be little in it tonight and that's exactly the way it turned out with both sides determined to give nothing away with the final place as the prize. The opening two periods of hockey had Steelers with the edge but neither team could find a way past the respective goaltenders Jody Lehman of Steelers and Phil Osaer of Devils. The breakthrough did come however and it was a packed Ice Sheffield who were in celebratory mood when 51 seconds into the final period Joey Talbot (his 18th goal of the season) fired the home side ahead from a Rod Sarich assist. That's the way it stayed despite Devils' best efforts at clawing it back but Steelers confirmed their place in the final when Ashley Tait (19th) despatched the black biscuit into an empty net with only 19 seconds remaining after Osaer had been withdrawn for the extra skater. Period Scores: 0-0, 0-0, 2-0 Penalty Mins: 10-12 Powerplay: She 0/4 - Car 0/4 Shots On: Jody Lehman 27 - Phil Osaer 35 + 1 ENG

I went to the game tonight and it was a very even contest, Steelers got the goal so fair play. Both net minders played well with Osaer probably having more to do. Steelers didnt look that great (especially Finnerty who was his usual annoying self!)and i would fancy us beating them, especially with our new netminder. On a side note the atmosphere was awful tonight, no noise, chanting or cheering! I not even sure if it was a sell out which is quite poor considering the importance of the game!

We did it last time around. Thanx to the worst offside call ever!!! Just watched again funily enough and that call still makes me cringe, how the hell could he miss call that? When you watch the video even at normal speed you can see the puck is easily 2 inches inside the zone! Not even on the line! Ah well, chance to right a wrong now eh? ;D

I thought at the time that Sunberg had already heard the whistle and made no attempt to save the shot. Anyway, I bet we weren't complaining as the ticker tape rained down in London. Can we add that 3.1 seconds to this final? ;D
