The game scheduled for Saturday February 9th is to be moved to a new date as the NIC ice is on longer available. The new date will be advised soon when both clubs agree a date. All being well that was to be my little boys first game so I am not too happy at the change.

There has been so many midweek games I have missed due to work, looks like here's one more. So glad I havn't got a season ticket anymore, it would have been a waste of money for me. Only to be expected I suppose. Don't think it will be the last this season.

all fixtures are subject to change.......! you know that at the start of the season. So that means we just have to accept yet another Saturday (ie traditional hockey night) fixture being moved to midweek does it? Not happy, not happy at all and what makes it worse is you can't do a damn thing about it

'All fixtures subject to change' just a caveat so they can mess us about. How about the amount I'm paying you for my season ticket is 'subject to change'. Not getting one next year. It's a joke. If the Panthers book the arena for a hockey game then that should be that - I don't give a rat's ass about if the arena can make more money with gigs etc.
This latest change means only 50% of the home games have been on a Saturday. Simply not good enough for me to want to renew my ticket. If Gary Moran reads this forum (as it appears recently he does...) then take note. That's a slight dent in Neil Black's wallet for you.

Having said that Psylence "traditionally" speaking hockey in Nottingham has always been on a saturday night just like it has been on a sunday in places like durham and sheffield. Therefore it doesnt take Einstein to extrapolate that If you buy a season ticket you can reasonably expect to be buying your saturday entertainment can it?.... I havent worked it out but IF this fixture change now means the majority of games are NOT on hockey night then surely the NIC are failing in their duty to provide a home for hockey for the Nottingham Panthers which if memory serves me right was one of their remits when the deal to replace the stadium was agreed.... To be honest the way Panthers fans are treated as the lowest common denominator by those that are now in charge of the NIC it does make me wonder why we bothered replacing the stadium. I loved watching hockey in the stadium with all its quirks and it seems we have "upgraded" just so "wedding live" or any other minority group and the fans of the latest pop sensation can now see their chosen pastime ahead of what the arena was proposed for. Especially as it also seems to have introduced other more draconian rules to the detriment of the fans such as photography and food...and this on top of the fact that our council tax money helped pay for and now run the damn place... as much as i love the new place there are times i wonder why we bothered...

I'm afraid that until a Panthers' game brings in more dosh than a concert, this situation will repeat time and again. The NIC can give Panthers a minimum of 4 weeks notice to change a fixture. I agree that it is a shame that one of the main purposes of the NIC is treated like this, but the £ dictates.

It can't be said that the NIC are failing to provide a home for Panthers just because every game isn't on a Saturday, however annoying it might be to us fans. The NIC/Nottingham Arena was built as a multi-purpose venue with a capacity big enough to bring big acts and events to Nottingham. I've no interest in most of the non-hockey events staged at the arena but I accept that there are plenty of people who are interested and they have their rights too. For all it's popularity in Nottingham ice hockey is still very much a minority sport and has to take it's turn.

Ice hockey may be a minority sport in this COUNTRY MP but it certainly isnt in Nottingham and without the panthers i doubt very much that the NIC would have been built. Therefore in my mind at least for that reason alone they owe the fans of the panthers to do ALL they can to keep any "other" activities non ice related to have a minimum impact on the panthers fixtures. During the season the management of the NIC know that any and all saturdays would be utilised by the panthers (and i know it is totally impractical anyway) but to change what is already a fixture arrangement for something as obscure as "wedding live" well isnt this just taking the biscuit dunking it in something smelly and forcefeeding it back to you?...
It seems to me that far from doing all they can to help panthers have their sat fixture they do as much as possible to not do this.... havent we had this conversation many times before?... yes it was built as a multi function arena but it isnt called the NATIONAL ICE CENTRE for nothing, and i am sure one of its remits was to promote ice sports and BE A HOME FOR THE NOTTINGHAM PANTHERS, if i owned the panthers i am sure it wouldnt feel like home being turfed out for some displays of white frocks and flour and water covered in icing....

The Nott'm Arena is not their to serve the Panthers, it's there to house whomever is willing to rent it.

that is such a wrong attitude though, it was built on what was the ice stadium and as such was an "upgrade" on it not a new venture by any means and cannot be treated as such in fact i think it would be fair to look on it as a bigger ice stadium which can be used for other things WHEN NOT BEING USED AS AN ICE STADIUM.
My "problem" with the NIC management imho is that they dont think of themselves as an uprated stadium but as a shiny new ARENA and the ice related activities are secondary, this was not how it was sold to us when the stadium was knocked down and the new place built. It was sold on the basis that this would be the panthers new home. New home? So why do we get treated as though we are cockroaches then rather than legitimate tenants....
All i am saying is that for eg why do we need to have a wedding event on a saturday night? Surely any night of the week would have been suficient yet few quid more in it so out get turfed the panthers after an agreed fixture and in my mind this wrong...
I doubt we will ever agree on this one MP/sunbeam so i guess we should just agree to differ?..

I remember it being sold as an arena which could bring top music acts to Nottm rather than people having to travel to Brum. It was also said that it could be the new home of the Panthers too and 'inspire the next Torvilee and Dean' blah blah. No different to the arena that was touted next to the new Forest ground that instead is now Riverside Retail Park.

I have to comend Tex's stance on this one, its called the national ICE centre not the National GIG centre.
I have always been suprised at how laid back Panthers fans seem to generally be about the fact their fixtures are moved willy nilly.
In sheffield i can see why it is crowds are down and generally in terms of drawing power the Steelers seem to be every weaker.
But ice hockey the NIC sells a decent amount of tickets and add in to that drink and food sales i would say the NIC make a fair buck out of the panthers fans.
They could do well to give a little back sometimes.
