As much as it pains me to say so, I don't recognise every one on the large banner (also features in the programmes). The only one I don't recognise on the right side, below PC, above Graham Garden. Some-one put me out of my misery....

I've not really seen enough of it to remember who it is, but on a related point, what has happened to the retired numbers? Surely we've not decided to do away with them already? I certainly hope that there's a valid reason why they've been taken down (and replaced with this banner), or else they'll be many (myself included), who are very annoyed that no recognition exists for the numbers of the players chosen for this honour.

They're looking for new bin bags to put the numbers on

Well said SMT. These four players have a very special place in the club's history. The current lack of recognition is a bit baffling.

I agree with you Grumpy, Hunty gave a lot to the club for many years and this should be recognised.

If they're going to retire Simon Hunt's (& I think they should) then I think they should also be commemorating Terry Kurtenbach, Gavin Fraser & John Bremner not to mention Chick Zamick & Les Strongman.

trouble then though Paul is it starts getting silly... it's impossible to retire the jersey of all favourite players so i guess it becomes a matter for a committee rather than individuals to eleviate any kind of obvious bias perhaps?...

As for Greg Hadden Andy, in his favour he was the best faceoff man we have had in the new place (oh for a faceoff player now!!) and he would show some of the players we have had in the last few years a thing or two about winning.... this is not to say i am a fan i might add here....

Blimey, another point I raised in my forthcoming book. I was asking who people thought deserved an honour of recognition too.

Indeed it does Dave, indeed it does. I wouldn't go beyond the names I've already mentioned but I do think they deserve some form of commemoration. Toronto (I think it is) honour names rather than retire numbers. Maybe someone a bit more eloquent than me should suggest this to the Panthers.

My own personnel that deserved a testimonial (past)are....Bremner,Waghorn,Fraser,Tait,Zamick,Strongman,Westman, Smith.

I received a very swift reply from GM, headed Private and confidential, so I will respect that and not copy it on to here.
He said that merchandising is down to the Arena shop and has forwarded the e-mail. With regard to the retired numbers, GM says that the original black and white banner didn't fit in with the current set up and the Panthers are only allowed to hang banners on the wall behind the stage. He is hoping to rectify the matter by way of something in the programme.
There was no mention of Simon Hunt's #13 I am sorry to say.
