Don't think Ellis would touch Craighead with a barge pole. Too much ego and Ellis is well known for wanting team players and a positive dressing room atmosphere.

Does anyone think that maybe our final two imports are already signed and the Panthers are just waiting to clear up the paperwork before announcing them?

Does anyone think that maybe our final two imports are already signed and the Panthers are just waiting to clear up the paperwork before announcing them? Quite possibly. After the Mark Magliarditi snafu, the Panthers have had this policy of making sure it's all sewn up before saying anything... not a policy I can fault them for, to be honest. Of course, there's also the possibility that the paperwork is already sorted, and they're just holding off to make sure they can keep PRs trundling out at regular intervals before the start of the season... but what the hell. As long as we get good players signed, I don't care.

Cardiff, Hull, Manchester, Newcastle, Edinburgh x 2, yourselves are looking for a similar sort of D man. And with those who want to come to north america i wouldnt be suprised if this is the last spot a lot of teams fill.

good stats and played at a good standard ,but the high penalty minutes are not from fighting as his fight card had about 8 fights on it alltogether , so maybe a liablility if he is taking silly pens? He may just play too physical.

I would love to see Trevor Baker on this team. I think he'd be a perfect fit. I think he could of done a job for us in 05-06 when the Racers folded.

Would have loved Ben Storey to sign for us!
Trevor Baker is a random suggestion but would be good

I vaguely remember hearing about this, what happened? Cardiff, Hull, Manchester, Newcastle, Edinburgh x 2, yourselves are looking for a similar sort of D man. And with those who want to come to north america i wouldnt be suprised if this is the last spot a lot of teams fill. I remember when MWB was coach he always maintained that the signing of the last Dman was the most difficult position to fill and could potentially make or break a season. The example being that at Sheffield he netted Kevin Bolibruck, sadly at Panthers he was only able to add Curtis Bowen...

Magliarditi was all set to join Panthers from what I remember and then got a contract with an AHL team. Similar thing happened with a guy we tried to sign called Frank Kovacs.

I'm led to believe both signings are done and we are just dotting the i's etc.
I don't think people will be disappointed with what we've got. I think most of the boxes mentioned on here have been successfully ticked.
We've got the side, Neil has given the money (plus gone much further than before with houses and cars) so now lets perform on the ice !

I don't know their names but I believe at least one is new to the league.
From the descriptions, one is a high scoring forward with a little toughness and the defenceman is a tough player, not a goon but very solid and can drop the gloves.

Im glad we have another player who can drop the gloves if necessery because there ahve been times last season where ryan has been in the box and someone has took a risk, where ryan can't do anything about it. So if your predictions are correct i reckon he could be a good signing. As for the forward, personally i think we need a tough forward and as ive said before similar to ryan finnerty. an aggravator who is prepared to do the dirty grinding work and get underneath the opponants skin. but thats just my opinion, i do trust ellis to get the right men needed for the job in hand

Ever since the Phoenix Coyotes organisation snatched Mags from under our noses i knew we d misseed out on a very very good nettie and so it proved , Maglairditi went on to play the minors notably with the Las Vegas Wranglers posting very good numbers and winning numerous awards, oh well

Matt zultek and lukas komarek. Just a guess but would be great. If this weeks signing is Woolie or Ferrera instead of an import i shall be upset. Haha

Had to laugh at the last bit of the article on the Phoenix site. Matt Rich missing the start of the season after severe stomach pains were diagnosed as salmonella. He said "I'm gutted to be missing pre-season..." Interesting choice of words in the circumstances I feel.

If John88 said both are signed -then Im happy with that -roster done and dusted (only Woolly and Ferrara to be confirmed).
If the signings are as John 88 describes then good stuff!

id be so pleased if we got a chippy decent sized foreward who can put up some points but also drive the opposition round the bend, Derek Campbell basically, surely theres another one out there.
for our last d-man id love to see someone with Neilson´s size, Simoes´s checking ability, Taubert´s no nonsense style and Thompson´s temperament.
cant wait to find out
Nick
