stuart pearce age 20ish signed wealdstone first proper club , 78 England caps. You seem to forget that he played schoolboy at the highest level, failed a trial at QPR, and actually turned down Hull City. Also remember Wealdstone were then semi-pro and amongst the biggest names in non league football.

Alot of these players at 18/ 19 aren`t big enough to play in the higher levels and need that extra year to get more competetive games under their belt and bulk up.
People say that 19`s are to big to be playing against 16 year olds...but it goes both ways alot of 18/19 years olds arent big enough physically or mentally to play against 30 year olds.
There needs to be a league for over 18`s to 20 (or 21)

Its not about the competetive playing its about training and mentality, most 17 and 18 year old kids who will play premiership football, have been with a pro club since the age of 14 and play very little competetive football, for fear of injury. Is it beyond the realms of possibility that Panthers could not take 4/5 of the most talented 15 year olds and let them train with them/carry bags to the bus/clean skates, just be around the pros. The short answer is NO, you know Carolle, you are there, Ive been there, the only thing important to Panthers management is the here and now not the future, especially of the British lads (even though it helped a ceratin lad back in the day) Nuture not nature, we aint born skating.

The exact names and numbers, I don't know... but apparently this has been happening for a while. So I've been told by persons (plural) on the junior side of things - not the Panthers.

Shaggy - I too have heard stories of juniors - and perhaps more shockingly, Lions - training with the Panthers on occasion Anyway onto something more intelligent. I can't help thinking people are jumping the gun. The EIHA AGM for ENIHL and Juniors isn't til June 9th, and I'd expect they'll make their first statement about it then. As for people developing late, Luke I know you only became a d-man a couple of years ago, and a centre capable of out-drawing Simon Leach last season, and there's another lad I know down south who, according to some theories on here, should not be playing at all. Bob Jacobs of Romford Spitfires only started playing hockey of any kind when he was 18 and decided to give it a go. He had a surprising amount of talent for a novice and ended up being one of the better players on his u-19s team by the end of his first season. However, by this time he was too old for juniors and as the Invicta Dynamos weren't willing to follow up their initial interest in him he ended up playing rec for a couple of seasons. He has the talent to be a decent player and the potential to be one of the best in ENIHL, if he can play somewhere better than Romford, but what he hasn't got is experience, or the savvy that comes with playing a lot of hockey. With this new rule about 18 being the highest level of juniors, and according to some, if you can't make at least ENIHL by 18, then surely in order to get kids that good we need to start them playing hockey in u-10s and make sure they get enough experience so that by the time they're 18 they're ready to play. This of course ignores the idea that people develop at different levels, and their hockey sense develops at a different rate to their bodies or their abilities.

So nothing about players not being allowed to play with an 1989 birthday then? Unless I didn't read it right

Does anyone think this doesn't make sense???
- So a 16 year old can play with seniors, but a 19 year old can't play with 18 year olds??? - Also, does the age groups go on birthdays now? Ie the moment you hit 18?
It wasn't as drastic as I thought to be honest.

It's a bit confusing but I *think* it does make sense.
Those aged under 15 can play up to U16 Those aged 15 can play U16 or U18. Those aged 16-18 can play U18 or seniors. Those aged 18+ can only play seniors.
That was how I read it anyway.
