Zoran and Ghislaine Kozic help Danny McAleese fund reach £25,000
Earlier this year Sheffield Under 16’s player Danny McAleese suffered a terrible road traffic accident breaking his back and severing his spinal cord leaving him paralysed from the chest down.
A fund was set up by Michelle Gibson and Liz Holland as Danny's parents needed to alter their home completely. They needed to adapt basically every room in their house to make them wheelchair accessible, this included adding a lift from their lounge up to the bedrooms. Danny also needed a specialised wheelchair and gym equipment so that he can keep active.
Upon hearing about this, Jets owner Zoran Kozic and his wife Ghislaine contacted Powerplay and paid for an advertisement to be put into the magazine to try and encourage people to donate money. They offered to match pound for pound cheques received into an appeal fund that mentioned the words 'Danny and Slough Jets' and by doing this they raised a total of £10,000 for Danny, £5,000 from donations and £5,000 matched by Zoran and Ghislaine.
On Saturday evening at the Jets home game against Sheffield, Zoran and Ghislaine will proudly present a cheque for £5,000 to Danny and his supporters. Zoran comments, It makes me proud to be part of a community that can come together and help out 'one of their own'. Ghislaine and I met Danny last weekend in Sheffield and he impressed me with his determination to succeed. He is currently at college studying for his A-levels and hopes to go on to University to study law. My wife and I wish him the all the very best for the future and with his lust for life we believe that he can achieve anything he sets his heart to."
