Apart from the fact (he will tell you himself if you ask) HE approached us....... But don't let that get in the way of another dig Re Simeos, I am inclined to agree, although I still think he could have done a job for us during the agreed 4 games. We were short, he was available (or not as the case may be) Had you not objected he would have played his 4 games and gone, as agreed by both parties (Us and him). Anyway, it's done and gone, as I said, I would take Paul back if the chance arrose. I liked Gav and think we lacked that niggly in your face nuisance of his type, Paul does the job, honest, 100% grafter. I like him.

I liked Paul and his approach to the game. Sadly, his game has gone backwards quite badly this season - in truth, he's never been the same player since his Continental Cup injury. I can understand why he reacted so badly to Mike Ellis' proposals and went to Sheffield on the backlash but suspect it's a serious setback in his desire to be a professional hockey player.

Maybe the fact he had "gone backwards" was as a result of poor coaching on Ellis's part in not playing Paul Moran in his best role. He gives 100% every shift, tries too hard, and I am certain under a decent coach, Dave Matsos he will blossom into a good grinding player that scores points on a regular 3rd line. I hope he stays at the Steelers next year, talking to him that is his wish.

Do people STILL believe what Hockey players tell 'em? They tell ya what ya wanna hear...which is often a million miles away from the truth.

Signing Moran was an excellent bit of business by the Steelers (and Panthers), who both made the most of it. Put probably £40k into their coffers in extra bums on seats, and a good few £k here too. Everyone wins, surely? Except maybe Mopes himself. Pride comes before a .......

Maybe the fact he had "gone backwards" was as a result of poor coaching on Ellis's part in not playing Paul Moran in his best role. Time will tell I guess but the rest of the Brits have improved noticeably under Mike Ellis so I suspect it's the player rather than the coach. Mike's plan for Paul would have done him good in the long run I think - he could even have made the GB squad if things had gone well in Bracknell.

As shaggy said hes only a 3rd liner who can pack a few punches whilest at it.He dint have the best of season. nice lad but not so great hockey player IMO. Indeed - shame though. Been coming to the NIC for a couple of years and thought this season hasnt been a good one for him. Cookie and Ferrara have done well this season - better than i thought they would. Add Matt Myers to the mix and Ellis when he played and i dont think we have missed Paul that much. Previous stats for him arent great either 51 points since 2003-2004 season to present.

bit naive to say ellis is a bad coach because PM hasnt been an effective player for nearly 2 seasons now and lets be honest 0 + 0 for steelers isnt exactly setting the world on fire for matsos (that great coaching up there eh!! ), especially, when all the other brits seem to have shined under additional ice time.

Maybe a trip to the Bees would have helped him in the long run - wonder if he will ice at all on saturday/sunday
