From the Steelers website. Coach David Matsos has confirmed that there isn't any problem between Paul Moran and himself, listeners to Radio Sheffields Steeler Hockey had asked if there was a problem as Moran did not ice for the team in Tuesdays Cup Final
Matsos though denied any rift "nothing could be further from the truth" he told listeners "Paul has done well for us and I like having him on our team, it was just a hocket decision on Tuesday that I played other players
"I spoke with Paul today and he understood, there is no problem between us and Paul will play a part in our Play Off battles with Nottingham for sure"
Is this the beginning of the end for our Paul ?

No matter what Matsos says its apparent from that he didn't think Paul was good enough to take part in that game, i almost feel bad for him!

What part will he play i wonder? Matsos can't have that much faith in him if he didnt play on Tuesday, oh well
Our 3rd line seems to be doing ok at the moment, shame for Paul though - still he didnt have to go did he?

Paul has had regular 3rd shifts whilst he's been here in Sheffield, however, with the return of Shaun Sutter we now have 10 forwards.
Dave Matsos has obviously decided to go with 3 lines of 3, meaning Paul Moran is the unfortunate guy to miss out.
As for the qualities of Paul Moran, I'd describe him as a hard working team player who works well without the puck, but when he has the puck he doesn't have a clue.

Regards Doom That just makes his decision to stay in the EIHL seem even more peculiar. I thought his preferred position was on the D and that if he'd have gone out on loan to the Bees he would have been able to play there? He'd have then come back to Nottingham for this weekend being able to play as a D-man? Very odd.

Call me an old cynic, but doesn't a public affirmation from the Coach usually result in a gassing?!

Call me an old cynic, but doesn't a public affirmation from the Coach usually result in a gassing?! Probably not, but saying that he has no problems with his abilities etc, and then not playing him in one of the biggest games of the season suggests that Matsos isn't being entirely honest wouldn't you agree?

Not necessarily. I agree it doesn't look good, but Matsos could see qualities in Paul and his game that he thinks would be/are useful in certain games/situations, just not in that particular game. Especially if he thought their third line was playing well together that night and didn't want to mix it up. That's just one theory though. I'm kind of thinking the same as BJ on this one.

Perceptive and concise as ever Doom! Doesn't bode well for Paul's future in Sheffield - he was a useful pawn when the chance arose but........

Although when the oportunity arose, I have no doubt that the PR implications of his signing were not lost on the Steelers. Please lets not forget that it was Paul himself who drove up to Shuff and walked in the Arena expressing his interest. There was more than one agenda involved in the signing, no-one was 'used' - at the time the situation suited BOTH partys for various reasons. As for future, who knows? I wouldn't be unhappy to see him return, but then I liked the equaly maligned Mr Farrand. If he doesn't, I'm sure you will all make the most of it despite what the truth may be..

Oh dear, wonder where Paul will be next season. No points isnt a great stat. Would anyone have him back here? Yes, I wouldn't mind seeing him back here. Only if the coach thinks he'd be a valuable part of the team though and not for publicity reasons - that kind of nonsense shouldn't be a part of the team building, and doesn't do anyone involved any favours IMO. That doesn't necessarily mean I want him back, just that I'd be happy for him to return if it's what the coach wants.

Oh dear, wonder where Paul will be next season. No points isnt a great stat. Would anyone have him back here? If he could play as he did a couple of years ago, and if Mike Ellis was happy for it, then yes. Mopes is a grinder - a third-liner if you will - and he can do a good job of it. He didn't this year, which is no doubt why ME wanted to send him off to Bracknell for a bit. But he can play a useful role. If we could be sure that he could do that again... yes, I could go with that.

Mopes.......Nopes!
He hasn't been good for two seasons. He was our eleventh forward or sixth D-man this season, at best.

Don't think there's a place on the Panthers roster if we re-sign our remaining Brits from this season.
Who doesn't think our third line has improved since Moran left?
Cynical bit of propaganda from Sheffield when they signed him, they obviously don't think he's good enough either.
