So some eagle eyed people or more likely those with alerts on "Pendulum Management" (the EIHL for some reason have a stupid company name) have spotted that the EIHL has issued an additional share, bringing the total to 11. Given that it is assumed that each club has one share, this would seem to indicate a new team coming in. Confirmation Statement from Companies House

I’ve seen someone mention Ayr Scottish Eagles being re-incarnated, they didn’t mention a source though so that’s purely rumour. If we’re making speculative guesses though you would have thought that either Leeds or MK would be the most likely to join.
I personally think it would be great if another team joined. With the need to play as many games as we do for income, a bigger variety of teams helps keep things fresh and interesting

Maybe it’s Neil Black’s long awaited London club…

Perhaps Newcastle's Saudi owners will back a team, bringing in ex NHL players. Within the wage cap of course.

Can't see it being Ayr. They would have to build a new arena. The centrum was knocked down and is now a supermarket. I would of thought Leeds is the most likely.

Some of the best away days I had was at the centrum in Ayr.. RIP.. at one time they were pretty much unbeatable at home so if you ever got a win there it was quite a achievement.. London will always be a non starter . Yup Leeds to make the step up?

Edinburgh potentially stepping back up? They are getting much bigger crowds than they did when they were last in the EIHL.
Also does anybody know what the latest situation with the new arena in Hull is?

Liverpool Arena would be good for a team. Big multi purpose arena with a big catchment for fans. Been there for almost 20 years but unfortunately no one has tried to do a team. Liverpool Leopards used to be a team years ago.

Here we go again with a newer format. Essentially longer Challenge Cup, return of a cross over or conference system and boring season to come because of no initiative.

Maybe Everton's prospective new owners could give it a bash, alright they seem to have a dodgy record in Football with several of their clubs in financial trouble but they seem to be doing alright in Basketball, they own a large chunk of the BBL and one of the teams, London Lions and that seems to be alright. I think either Aberdeen, Dublin or North East of England would be good options.

Todd's Cardiff now though, and the other director is Two Point Tony. That must be the league's operating company.

It is the League. The league website states that it is. www.eliteleague.co.uk/terms-amp-conditions"Terms such as “we”, “us, “our” or similar expressions shall mean Pendulum Management t/a* Elite Ice Hockey League (hereinafter referred to as “EIHL”)" *T/A is an abbreviation for Trading As

Forgive my ignorance but why do companies do t/a? Can be useful if you rebrand, don't need to change the company name. Also useful if you want to trade under multiple names (like 1 brand selling X, then a different brand selling Y). Not sure the benefit for the EIHL. Also not sure on timescales as Pendulum was set up in 2011 IIRC so the EIHL must have been a different company at it's inception.

Assuming it's a club, would Hull not be the likely candidate? IIRC, the rink refurbishment there is done, and is still around 3k'ish capacity. So might be able to sell it easier to families with a modernised venue.

So might be able to sell it easier to families with a modernised venue. Most likely existing clubs in my mind would be: - Hull - Decent sized refurbished rink
- Leeds - Rink on the small side, but doing well on and off ice
- Edinburgh - Seem to be getting really good crowds in the SNL, but plenty of reason to be wary that it'll go wrong in the EIHL
- MK - Sort of a middle ground of all three. Okay rink, but with bad history in the EIHL
Unless there is a rink/arena being built or getting an ice plant put in, I'm not sure where else would really be able to step up. A real wildcard might be something like Tilburg? Heard rumours in previous years because they have no real domestic league and are effectively stuck playing in the German 3rd tier. Plus I'm sure I remember reading that they were told they can't be promoted to the 2nd tier or higher in Germany. However the logistics of any team from Europe would be prohibitive for all sides.

On this wider topic, interestingly when you look at the shares transferred in 2023, it seems the Storm's share (RJSG Entertainment Ltd) was transferred to a company called Frontera Ltd.
Frontera's director is Emma Kristin Finnerty (Ryan Finnerty's wife). She is also listed as holding >75% ownership of the entity. I didn't realise that they (seemingly) had such total control of the Storm. It seems a shareholder of RJSG Entertainment, Jamie Tunstall is no longer involved.
I always thought Planet Ice had an interest in the team there but must no longer be true (if it ever was).
On new teams.... surely Leeds the obvious new joiners if there was to be a team.

Jamie Tunstall put out a statement a few months ago stating he had left Storm,it seemed that the old company who owned Storm had a fair bit of debt, it was closed and a new one set up (Frontera). I seem to recall there may have been a thread on this forum about it somewhere.

Think Hulls capacity for hockey is 2000 seated. Maybe they can fit a few more standing as well but it is nowhere near 3000.

Thats the biggest problem, they keep buidling new arenas such as Newcastle/Gateshead currently being built but with no provision of an ice plant. Though what would happen to the old Utilita Arena, it may be prime to turn into a decent Ice Arena but the local authority may have other ideas
