Truly the most awful news, from an awful incident for everyone involved and thoughts go to Adam’s friends, family and all those players involved.
Poor form from the media team of Panthers & EIHL who haven’t acknowledged the incident, no official releases, and have let rumours fly around with multiple non-hockey media outlets have produced updates instead. It didn’t have to be much but just a few lines to update fans would have sufficed, even now when those across from Canada are providing updates.
Above that thought, RIP AJ47. A magnificent hockey player and will be greatly missed.

Maybe they’re just stunned and devastated. Let’s be compassionate at times like this. I feel for whoever has to post any updates, imagine having to do that, just horrific

I'm not sure who at the club would do a press release of this magnitude. Chris is media officer but unfortunately is away in the USA at his nephews funeral which was also at the same time as the accident so he wouldn't have heard anything.

As much as we care, we are the least important people right now.

A truly dark day in hockey, but in particular the EIHL. RIP Adam, every thought goes out to your family.

Haven’t posted here in a long time. Came back to pay respects but don’t really know what to say. It’s surreal.

They would want to tell Johnson’s family before they told the fanbase and by that time it’s likely the middle of the night. Plus I heard Chris is abroad right now with his own family.

This is what I feared last night The reason we heard nothing was it was bad news and everyone in the UK needed to ensure that his family and close friends found out somewhere else other than the internet I'm gutted for the player and his family I'm also very concerned for anybody who saw this happen and was involved in any way last night There are/were video clips and images emerging I've avoided looking at anything as I know things like this can be really damaging and upsetting to see

This is so devastating, I think like most I’m in shock. When you support a sports team, even if you don’t have any direct interactions with the players, you form a bond and care about them, it’s heartbreaking that this has happened. I’m sending all my love to everybody who knew Adam, his family, friends, teammates and everybody involved in our club. He seemed to be a very pleasant and likeable young man, it’s just so sad what’s happened. RIP Adam, forever a Panther

Just to make it clear, I did not mean to post about his condition or go into any detail (and certainly not post false hope) but just something short to say the game was stopped due to an incident, he’s been taken to hospital and to bear with the club in such a time, nothing more. That would have addressed it and given everyone time to await the unfortunate news rather than the speculation which did happen.

There was nothing positive to say. (I suspected as much bearing in mind he was having CPR on the ice). And relatives needed to be informed before anything else was said. When someone above suggested he was being operated on in hospital it seemed all of a sudden positive in the early hours. But I've got to think that never actually happened.

This is so devastating, I think like most I’m in shock. Anyone who has witnessed this will be impacted for ever sadly. Which is a lot of people obviously. Many of them young kids. Lots and lots of people will need ongoing support. Even the journalist who made the mistake of posting an image will need support. So people need to back off attacking him. I've witnessed horrific sports injuries myself but nothing remotely on this scale in terms of life threatening etc. But I'm still haunted by seeing those injuries. This is on another scale. If anyone on here hasn't seen the video footage (Which was emerging last night) don't go looking for it and warn others away from it. As you can't rewind seeing incidents like this from your mind once you've seen them. I can speak from experience of that. I'm so sorry and concerned for everybody involved

This is truely devastating. Of course Adams family are at the forefront of our thoughts, but so many more will be deeply effected. Team mates, Steelers players, officials and all those people in the arena last night. There will have been kids witness that. There may well be players who feel they cant play again after that. I just hope they all get the support they need. Poor Matt Petgrave may never got over it. A pure accident. I hope he can get to a place where he doesnt blame himself.
RIP Adam

The refs and the first responders who won't necessarily have ever been prepared to deal with something of this magnitude But tbh absolutely everybody who was there and even those who saw footage as it happens I've deliberately avoided images and footage as its horrific enough just reading and thinking about it Not sure how so many people (including young kids) who saw what happened and are clearly impacted can really be supported enough here tbh? Wouldnt know where or how to start supporting them? Stuff like this needs professional help for so many people at the same time?
