A clear vision? It's one dimensional! Paredes said he wants us to be a fast, hardworking and attacking team, he then has gone out and signed players who fit that mould, if that’s not a clear vision then I don’t know what one is Graham said he had a way he wanted panthers to play too... How did that work out.. They played like a bunch of disjointed strangers every week!

It’s interesting that in his Panthers welcome interview he’s placed himself firmly as a two-way centre. He’s clearly adept at picking up points and goals and his +/- numbers have been good too (asides from the A who clearly deployed him in a defensive role).
Found from the AHL website from a few years back, Michaud’s highlights:
- Scored his first professiona goal with Manitoba (AHL), April 7/21 vs. Belleville - Made his professional debut with Manitoba, Feb. 15/21 vs. Toronto - Tied for the lead on North Dakota in goals (16), 2019-20 - Captured the Penrose Cup with North Dakota as the NCHC's top regular season club, 2019-20 - Named an all-conference honorable mention, 2019-20 - Posted an NCHC career high in points (30) and goals (13) with Colorado College, 2018-19 - Advanced to the semifinals of the 2019 Frozen Faceoff with Colorado Led Colorado with seven power-play tallies, 2018-19.
On face value and on paper, a line of Michaud/Lemay/Nieminen would have plenty of goals and assists between them. Not the biggest line but would cause any defence issues if they start clicking early.

I mean look at all the lumbering 6'4 knuckle draggers that Giants and Flames had last year. The only real correlation to being over 6' on the Giants roster last season and points scored is an inverse one. (Honourable exception being Mark Cooper) Whether it's the right vision or not, is something that we can only look forward to finding out.

Not sure what this has to do with GG anyway. Oh, wait, I've got it. Nothing.

This League is more physical than the french league.. panthers have gone for small skilled pacy players before and it got them nowhere

Pacha has gone on record this summer saying that it is him who is primarily doing the recruiting of the squad (in consultation with Paredes). As such he too should start to come under increased scrutiny. The buck stops with him. If he gets it wrong again then he should at least be at the last chance saloon so to speak.
But then the question would be who replaces him, and who in the right mind would want to with Neil Black at the helm?

And how do you define that? I would have to say, the amount of traditionally "physical" play is getting less and less. Teams just don't tend to carry "big" units any more. An open-ice hit ifs a rarity, a board-rippling check even more so. As a proxy for "physical", last season, there were 6 fights in 54 Panthers league games, only 1 of which was Gagnon. Probably 6 more than the French League, but time was you could see 6 fights a weekend. Those days are long gone. Flames have been going for small, pacy, skilled players for years and it could and arguably should have won them the league last year. The good news is, especially with a clear out for the team and back office, last year should mean virtually nothing in respect of this year.

There is getting it wrong and there is coming seventh. If it was anywhere else with an arena team he wouldn't be getting the luxury of a second chance

Yes but if he's bringing in the ÂŁÂŁÂŁÂŁÂŁ then Neil Black is happy and the product on the ice is very much an afterthought. Sad but true.... .

No they don't anymore though they just make up for it with Web casts and special 'one off' 'special' game worn shirts or even 'legacy' shirts..

Where are you guys getting this idea that to be a physical player you have to be Alex penner or Sean mcmorrow. And why does physical to you guys mean fights??

Doesn’t look bad. Again very small. More interested right now on who our last defender is going to be and hoping he is a defensive defender. Still hoping we get Alex Wideman as one of our last 2 forwards or someone of that quality although the rumour seems to have died down.

I'm not, but how on Earth are you going to get an "objective" answer to the question of how "physical" the league is or isn't? A proxy of fights or PIMs is about the only objective thing you're going to get? Do you have anything objectively better? Interesting in that case that last season there was only 2 PIMs difference between Panthers and Flames. 478 vs 476. Who the heck knows what this team is going to play like without seeing a game in anger? They might be as ar$ey as a man with a fork in a world of soup? (Fist bump to anyone who can tell me who said something very similar and about whom)

Yet you somehow manage to establish that Flames take good, smart penalties yet Panthers take bad, lazy ones. You accused me earlier of being a newbie yet with every time you post some of this baseless nonsense just makes me believe more or more that only know a fraction than you let on about the game despite the many years you’ve been watching the game

(Fist bump to anyone who can tell me who said something very similar and about whom) physicality determines a style of play. Not pims or fights. Tommy hughes was a big physical defender who got less pims than Robbie Baillargeon who wasn’t a physical forward. Once again I’m not picking up why pims = physical ( not being condescending genuinely not understanding why a physical player needs tons of pims or has to be a out and out enforcer?) granted we can’t know everything until we see them play but it’s not hard to do research on a player and watch highlights and see what people who have seen them play think. Once again back to Guildford just as an example Sam Marklund was a gritty physical player who wasn’t afraid to get stuck in, even winding up Gagnon at points last season. And again he had less Pims than both Tommy Hughes and Robbie Baillargeon when they were with us.

You really are clutching at straws there. I do know exactly how many penalties were taken by Panthers last year and exactly when. Clue, those 3 aren't the top 3 in terms of numbers. But as to how "lazy" they were (though I would probably say holding is the "laziest" penalty to take?), and how Flames fared in comparison, you got me. (I'd guess that most teams have those 3 above and roughing being the top 4 taken. Does that mean all teams are "lazy"?)

Absolutely agree, but my point is you can't objectively define how "physical" a team is in a recorded metric, so you have to use a proxy or two. "Grit" isn't anywhere on the game sheet.
