Based on 22 games in Denmark his stats look ok, but beyond that - and presumably a recommendation from Nieminen - there's not a lot to suggest this is anything other than a bit of a punt, he doesn't seem to have played a full pro season yet? That might work out very well of course, but I'd like to see some hang-your-hat-on quality in there, and we're running out of signings. Anyway, best of luck to Westin. Big pressure on those last two forward signings hey yotes.. big pressure...

Kind of any embarrassing thing to say when they poster has been a forum member for 11 years don't you think? Constantly defending panthers is embarrassing... And their attempts at silverware is embarrassing pal 🤣 The poster wasn't defending Panthers just asking in what regard you thought all the players were the same beyond their height. And pointing out that height alone is a pretty poor comparison marker without further considerations. Ouch, I get that you don't always agree with me Ian but calling me one of your pals was a bit uncalled for, wasn't it? [B&G73 consults their legal council, raises righthand and pledges: "Your Honour, I am not now, nor have I ever been, knowingly a pal of Pidge"]

Yeah, you're not wrong on these points. But the fact he spent time on the AHL books of both Manitoba and Stockton (albeit not icing for Stockton) in his first pro season (then I Slovakia) suggests other good organisations think he has potential. Hopefully the bouncing around was just trying to get established and that he flourishes in Nottingham. Other teams seem to find rough diamonds fresh out of college so hopefully he'll be the same for us. But yes, a couple of "he's definitely going to score goals" players would be nice

Problem is it's not one player .. there's about 4/5 players all looking the same .. quite obvious how the team is panning out .. Based on what? Their height? In that case Cam Jansen and David Beauregard must be clones. They’re both 6ft tall We do have 4 or 5 who, if EP is correct (big if), look to be a similar build. Lemay, Henbrant, Welsh and now Michaud. Niemenen is similar although a bit heavier.

While that may be the case this team has been built for Paredes who has a track record of getting his team to finish at a higher position than the monetary value would suggest. Whether people like the way it’s been built or not having a team built to the exact style of play the coach likes is going to put us in the best possible position to succeed. Under Graham we just looked like a team that was mushed together and was then expected to be competitive, at least with Paredes we’ve got a clear vision.

Reasons I quite like the look of Michaud 1. I like to be positive, for a start, having never seen him actually play, ever. 2. Good college numbers in a decent team (plenty of draftees/now NHLers, team-mate of Gabe Bast and a certain Harrison Blaisdell), very good in a middling one (with an outlyingly good +/-)). 3. Turned pro straight to the A (always a good sign) 4. Point a game start to his ECHL career 5. Pretty decent numbers in Slovakia (which I intuitively see as a good indicator, see Welychka) 6. Good PPG numbers in Denmark last season. Top 5 in PPG in the league. 7. Presumably has already played a bit with Nieminen last season (some games playing together, probably PP time too), so potentially a ready built pairing there 8. Presumably Nieminen had a hand in the signing? Personal recommendations are normally useful. 9. Materially outscored Combs and Desjardins last season, both of whom did well in the EIHL 10. Pidge doesn't Reasons not to 1. Not exactly oversized. Not that that stopped any number of players you could easily name. 2. Not many players get good points in Denmark, then good points in EIHL (see Puffer, Quist and others) (But it's not unknown, see also Charles Corcoran, Justin Crandall) 3. "Similar" to other Panthers players. (If that's even a valid reason, who's to say they're not the duff ones?) 4. Looks like he's suffered with injuries a bit? 5. Er, that's it? He could be gone by Christmas, of course...

How can you possibly say that when: a) The roster is yet to be completed b) We have a new coach who will have his own systems and way of playing, and c) They haven't even hit the damn ice yet!

That's right it does tell you everything apart from which players played with which linemates and what the defences were like which can inflate a goalies stats!

Paredes said he wants us to be a fast, hardworking and attacking team, he then has gone out and signed players who fit that mould, if that’s not a clear vision then I don’t know what one is
