you’re comparing top end forwards from other teams to our bottom 6 forwards in order to criticise the club Although I'm quite happy with us on paper so far, this must be the oldest chestnut going 😉 We say this every year at this time. I'd very much doubt they've got Nieminen pencilled in for the bottom six, and maybe even Welsh. Nieminen definitely on the 1st line and I think Welsh is in that 2nd/3rd line middle ground where it’s not clear where he will be but my point was more that we’ve built from the bottom up whereas some of the teams we’ll be competing against have filled out their top lines more than we have

We won't know that til the rosters are complete. Discounting Zaine for the moment, we've got seven forwards signed, it's unlikely to me that we'll have 5 of the top 6 still to come. Could be wrong of course, and as I say, I've no issue with us so far, but I wouldn't assume it's all top drawer from here on. How would you know have you spoke to paredes and discussed the roster with him? Yeah he's never off the phone, telling me about who's playing which line etc, becoming a bit of a nuisance tbh. If that's the requirement for discussing the team, we might as well leave Jono and Chris Ellis to it.

Still not sold on him being a “stud” though. Our best forward so far tho by a long way.

Without looking into it. my first guess is not that many I’d say there’s a few players who look like they’ve got the potential to be exciting players in this league but unless I’m missing someone, for me he’s currently got the best CV out of any forward under 30

Less points in more games than Quist in denmark although he also did well in Slovakia (I have no doubt he will be better than Quist as of how well he did in Liiga). But again look how that worked out for Suoranta. Hedberg didn’t do bad in Liiga either just saying… Just think he should be a second liner. Would be a risk if we are bringing him in to be a star top liner in my opinion. Also hasn’t really been a point per game player over his career although Sam Herr wasn’t before he joined either so who knows.

Just personally would be hoping we sign Alex Widemen (from the rumours) as a top liner and 2 more like him.

Best new import forward on paper for me is Arniel. Add to that Martin, Cox, Sanford and Ully and there are plenty of goals in that team

It's been a while since the Alex Wideman rumour surfaced (hopefully it hasn't fallen through, assuming there was truth in it).
I do think like others have said we look woefully short on firepower up front at present. Though there's still time.
I have to say regardless of CV Nieminen is a wait and see signing for me for various reasons. Especially when compared to players whovr played here in recent times.
Craig Puffer had almost identical stats to Nieminen in Denmark over 2 seasons - Look how he worked out at Panthers.
On the flip side to that Nieminen outpointed Charlie Combs (& Gabriel Desjardains) in Denmark last season & I think one thing we can all agree on Charlie Combs was one of the best forwards in the league that season, pretty much every club was interested in signing him last summer.
Then there's Simon Suoranta who played more games & acquired more points in his time in Liiga & again he was something of a flop at Panthers
And again on the flipside Nieminen outpointed a certain Brett Welychka in Slovakia & Denmark & we all know how Good he was at Panthers last season.
Whilst there are always other factors that play into a players points production it's pretty much the primary way players are judged (along with leagues played in) by fans before seeing them play. It's something we are all guilty of. Hopefully the Coach and CEO have got this one right.
I wouldn't be surprised if Nieminen was one of the best forwards in the league, but equally I wouldn't be surprised if he turned out to be less than average. A lot will also depend on who his lineages are.
Still being in his late 20s he should be in his prime.. Hopefully he's not another good player who Panthers turn into a bad one.

Anyone else getting a bit restless? 8 players to sign/ announce (incl Brit back-up) and no word from Pacha/ Paredes about the state of play - whether we’ve got players signed and to be announced or not etc…Steelers 1 sign - Devils fully signed a few weeks ago according to PR. Just wouldn’t mind a status update for a bit of transparency…restless fan over and out.

They do read it, or at least did. Nicola certainly anyhow. Maybe it's Jake Durflinger as per an earlier rumour..

The only forward over 6 foot is a young Brit and if this durfinger signs that's another around 5'9 🤦

Alex Wideman is 5ft7
Me too. It's been an awfully long time since that rumour surfaced. Indeed one of the two twitter accounts who posted that rumour deleted it more or less straight away for whatever reason. Hopefully it hasn't fallen through, if Theres ever been any truth in it.

Yeah but look at his numbers . Some of the other names linked don't fill me with much confidence.. tbh that rumours account has dried up quite a bit in the last few weeks

I've seen his numbers, and I've said previously more than once that I hope we sign him.
There's two twitter rumour accounts that have been generally accurate, both posted the Wideman rumour. Both have been quiet of late. The twitter account that posted the Wideman rumour first was the one who quickly deleted the tweet.

We need our top end players now , apart from one or two we have mostly signed the bottom end of our team. So surely we are now looking at the better players coming in . Seen some of the ones we are linked with and some just look like similar to what we already have . Fingers crossed

To be honest, as long as they're all in for training camp, I don't care if they're all announced in April or August. I did quite enjoy the Panthers account using all the 'where are the signings' tweets they've received to announce a new one later
