The fact I hate losing to them more than any other team makes me a "sheep" now does it? Simply because they're our local derby game (like most sports) and after 20 years of watching them get the better of us far too often when it counted it irks me? Does that makes anyone who things that way a "sheep"? And yet the cage regularly mocks fans who don't feel passionately about the team and just turn up for a night out? Kind of damned if you do and damned if you don't territory surely? For the record: I was complementing them on doing a far superior job than any other team in the league at getting the message out, selling their team and getting bums on seats - showing admiration for a job well done - even when they do lag behind other teams (including our own) on overall silverware won in the EIHL era. Though they do have a pesky habit of nabbing the big one way more than we get a sniff of it! Not a dig at you at all but the way that the Panthers were run back when the franchise started to die. Sheffield, Belfast and Cardiff were all lucky in that they were taken over and run by people who understood the best promo to bring people in and put bums on seats is to win and the Panthers largely relied on full out BS. Sheffield don’t need the old BS anymore as they sell out loads of games against several teams and Panthers no longer even sell out Sheffield games anymore. Until the Panthers are owned and run by people into winning and not BS that’s never ever going to change and the NIC needs to be filled with genuine sports fans not people on a night out. I bet that on a percentage ratio the Panthers have far fewer actual team supporters against people on a freebie or out on the lash than any other team in the league now. That’s something the Panthers franchise has done to itself 100% Too much short-termism and short sighted behaviour too that killed our momentum. Which is why it's harder to reboot the franchise now than it would have been to keep it going and build on what was already there. Someone took their eye of the puck and then was surprised when it wasn't where they thought it would be

There are only so many times you can kick somebody before they react !

Someone took their eye of the puck and then was surprised when it wasn't where they thought it would be Honestly, the problem is, although people joke about it, NB has no interest in ice hockey, no interest in the Panthers and no interest in winning. It’s a terrible sad fact but unfortunately 100% true. If NB had a mind to then the lingering decline would have never happened. He could have stepped in at any time and fixed it. To NB the Panthers are just a cash register that rings every home game and that’s the beginning and the end of his interest. Just look at the low crowds and problems at Belfast, Sheffield and Cardiff over the years. The right people came along and either sorted it or are in the process of trying to. Nottingham have done nothing but talk big and fail year after year. The Panthers are just a bigger version or Edinburg but make money at the moment so the owner doesn’t care.

Exactly Scott Neil didn't care either which was strange for a ex player Even taxi drivers couldn’t find the place. Did nothing year on year except run out of money and stave off bankruptcy while the place fell to bits.

Not sure of the cost implications but, surely, Coventry, Nottingham and Sheffield could organise a mini visit to the UK by one of the better quality French, Dutch or Danish teams. Three games, one at each home arena/rink and split the expenses and ticket revenue. For Pete's sake please try something different.

I remember seeing AK Bars Kazan prior to the 2002/03 season. Think they won 6-1 but I’d rather see them in preseason rather than an EIHL team

Some top players on show It wasn't. We played AK Bar Kazan on 27th August 2001, Storm played them night before. So pre season ahead of 2001/02. Datsyuk left AK Bars Kazan at end of 2000/01 season, was never on the roster against us.

Highlights of his rookie season (01-02) with Detroit for those that fancy the flashback:

Biased I know but that was the best roster assembled anywhere in the last 40 years!
Datysuk was a 4th liner that year. You won't see many better drafted in the 7th round as well
