Yay... how exciting.
Spend some cash black and get them into Europe for some pre-season malarkly and create a bond in the team not a 30min bus trip to shitsville.

Ridiculous really, I’ve not seen any positive reaction to this. Playing your ‘rivals’ in pre season is comical…this will just put off fans even more… clearly didn’t read the room!

Still got too many memories of last season to even consider anything pre-season

Complete waste of time. Neither team will learn much about the opposition. Think both owners simply see pound signs for these sort of games. No longer a genuine rivalry and hasn't been for some seasons.

Honestly, if you’re surprised by this you need your bumps felt. Always going to happen. Don’t go if you don’t want to. Simples.
Frankly, that feeling at the end of the first period in the home pre-season game was the best I felt all last season.

We shouldn’t be playing Sheffield in pre-season.
I saw Simms arguing with someone that the reason it’s happening is because it fills the arenas, I don’t think that will be the case for our games again them throughout the season, certainly not at the NIC anyway. We’ve already decided we’re not going to the home pre-season game against Sheffield, the clubs have destroyed the rivalry and everything that came with it, for us the fixture has been spoilt

Plus it won't encourage people back. Just looking like the same old, as usual.

I saw this & thought this was extremely unimaginative. Will give these fixtures a wide berth.

Fife and Dundee joint hosting pre-season games against Romanian side CSM Corona Brasov and the Dutch side Tillburg Trappers, making an absolute mockery of both Panthers and Steelers who insist on playing yet another set of games against each other.
I'd be buying a ticket to see us play those teams in pre-season, I won't be vs Sheffield.

We will boycott the pre season games again this year. Have done for a few years now and will do until it changes.

Boring boring boring... Totally unambitious 🤦 Suppose if it’s to try things out against the standard of opposition you will be facing, it’s understandable. Can’t say it’s very exciting for the supporters though. I won’t be going to see this, nor against the Steelers. They can’t be expecting many bums on seats for this, can they?

Problem is you don’t see the real standard though because it’s just a half arsed, glorified training session and neither team wants to give anything away. So you might as well at least give the fans some variety by playing new teams instead of being lazy and just rolling out the same old same old yet again.

Just had an email from Ticketmaster of upcoming sports events, which included among the featured events Steelers' preseason games at £10 a seat including fees. They've got good marketing in place whatever else we may think of them

They fill a bigger arena than us every week with fans wearing orange (not a mish mash of awful colours like an Oxfam shop window) and they beat us hollow pretty much every season too. The old pony stirred up by GM and Sims for the sheep is a bit tired now. It’s a pity the Panthers didn’t aspire to be as good as them.

Exactly this, panthers home games are a utter embarrassment these days

The fact I hate losing to them more than any other team makes me a "sheep" now does it? Simply because they're our local derby game (like most sports) and after 20 years of watching them get the better of us far too often when it counted it irks me? Does that makes anyone who things that way a "sheep"? And yet the cage regularly mocks fans who don't feel passionately about the team and just turn up for a night out? Kind of damned if you do and damned if you don't territory surely? For the record: I was complementing them on doing a far superior job than any other team in the league at getting the message out, selling their team and getting bums on seats - showing admiration for a job well done - even when they do lag behind other teams (including our own) on overall silverware won in the EIHL era. Though they do have a pesky habit of nabbing the big one way more than we get a sniff of it!

Though they do have a pesky habit of nabbing the big one way more than we get a sniff of it! Not a dig at you at all but the way that the Panthers were run back when the franchise started to die. Sheffield, Belfast and Cardiff were all lucky in that they were taken over and run by people who understood the best promo to bring people in and put bums on seats is to win and the Panthers largely relied on full out BS. Sheffield don’t need the old BS anymore as they sell out loads of games against several teams and Panthers no longer even sell out Sheffield games anymore. Until the Panthers are owned and run by people into winning and not BS that’s never ever going to change and the NIC needs to be filled with genuine sports fans not people on a night out. I bet that on a percentage ratio the Panthers have far fewer actual team supporters against people on a freebie or out on the lash than any other team in the league now. That’s something the Panthers franchise has done to itself
