Not sure how you would attribute a value to the club. In terms of anything tangible, you’ve got a few sticks and a pile of pucks. All players are pretty much free to leave at any time and have no transfer value as you do in football. Its value is in the name, the fan base and a multiple of adjusted profit generated. I can’t see the value therefore being massive. If he genuinely wanted out, would think a consortium could raise the amount required to achieve this. A local business or sponsor (or small collective of same) could achieve this if they wanted to. Iggy - get your cheque book out. Give over, the price tag would be well into seven figures and it wouldn’t start with a 1 either.

Ownership looking to offload Panthers. Think Black is ready to cash in his ice hockey chips. Only problem is (a) finding someone with the money and (b) someone daft enough to want to get involved in our minority sport. Is this a rumour you’ve made up? Probably made up , I'm still waiting for Sheffield to announce Dixon as new coach

Exactly this.. the playing staff have no value at all but it's the name of the brand which is pricey .. black would make pure profit on any sale considering he brought the club for a quid 25 years ago

If he genuinely wanted out, he would have to accept a sensible offer.
It certainly wouldn’t warrant anything like 7 figures.
Hes lucky the club didn’t fold after AJ. If the team didn’t restart, the season ticket refunds and lack of any revenue streams would have bust it.

The amount of money black stacks up season upto season would dwarf any loss in revenue for 2/3 of a season

The only way it wouldn’t have restarted is if a load of players had left on mass, but all he would have done then is sign a load more to carry on. As for seven figure £’s there is not a chance Black would take less than that for Panthers,it makes too much money. Let me tell you, about 15 years ago I looked tentatively at buying a then EPL club and even that was silly money for a far far smaller club.

The value of the club is in it being a franchise, yes technically it probably doesn't have a massive amount of assets, but (as far as I can remember from the setup of the EIHL) if you were a millionaire businessman that had designs on running an EIHL club out of the NIC, the only way to do that would be to buy the panthers. Bearing in mind the size of the fanbase that that gives you exclusivity over, I'd easily expect the value of the panthers to run into the millions.
It's worth noting that in the NHL its a standard trick for the owner to gut/rebuild the roster for a couple of years prior to a sale to bring down the wage bill and to make the books look as good as possible for a sale...

Well however much it costs, let's hope that rumour's true.
Now, where's this "big piece" or whatever we've been promised? Is he playing on Wednesday?

I mean these valuations are all guess work without detailed accounts, but I think multiple millions isn't likely. It's not going to be a hugely profitably venture, so I don't think it would make sense if you think in terms of income because I don't think it would be profitable enough to warrant the risk of investing in sports. I also don't think there is anyway to substantially increase it's value. Yes you can improve the business and maybe yield some value or profit, but it's not like for example buying an EFL club whereby if you get to the PL, it's now worth maybe 5x or 10x what you bought it for. I just don't think a Hockey team in the UK represents a sound investment if you're paying millions (plural).
One for the more veteran amongst you, when has a UK Hockey team ever been bought not on the cheap and when it's not a distressed asset? Glasgow obviously wasn't in complete chaos, but the fact Black was so unpopular and the team was doing so poorly would probably have helped the new owners get in at a better price, but other than that it seems to be when teams are on the verge of or are in fact bankrupt.

Wonder if there’ll be any final forays into the transfer market - believe the deadline is 14th/ 15th Feb…would love us to bring in one more for a final push for 8th place.

It's a difficult one, the team leading the Slovakian League, or the team bottom of the Elite league. looks like he made the wrong choice '27-year-old striker Peter Bates has signed a contract with HK Poprad until the end of the current season'.

Plenty of good looking plyers from NA don't do well in Slovakia, for some reason. Next season, maybe?

Both David Levin and Jeremy Welsh are rumoured to be on the move from their team in Romania...
Too much to hope for?
Not sure how much weight there is to the rumour but to break about both ex Panthers players on the same day is interesting at least

Is there a transfer deadline? Yes, it has already gone. If they are on the move they could well have already signed though and just not announced.
