I thought we started alright...then once we conceded just went very flat and didn't offer much.
Usual Steelers on a Saturday,a loss, loads of idiots in attendance and fans left wondering why we bother.
Corey in his post match interview stating why Lindgren didn't play,he may as well have said 'he's a flake and didn't fancy it'

Positives. Thought Summers had a good game. Anderson took his goal nicely. That is I believe the first SHG Steelers have conceded all year. At least it wasn’t an embarrassing score in the end. I had Summers as my MoTM.

Good grief. I’d not even noticed Lindgren wasn’t playing and it took me until half way through to miss Ferrara… Official reasons?

Yes the gold one was only worn in the Playoffs semi loss. The first time we ever had a gold shirt. We didn't see a gold shirt again after that for years. Not sure how we have a reverse shirt as we originally had the black shirt. Which in those days the darker shirt was the away strip. The home strip was a white version in the same design. I think that season was the first year we had that Panthers head. Replacing the original panther design. It was also the start of having a different shirt design for every season. Before that we always had the same shirt every year. I’ve got picture/s of us playing in a gold in the 80-81 season would you believe. The picture is in my book ‘ Factual Scrapbook’ Indeed this 90’s shirt was the time this colour started to come in.

Lindgren warmed up but apparently said he was 'sore' so didn't want to play. Corey sounds fuming on his interview about it. No idea about Ferrara...not that you'd notice if he was playing or not.

Thought our Brit back looked particularly woeful tonight. Well, to be honest thats a bit harsh. Hopkins did ok all things considered. At least he battled hard. Hazeldine did o.k too. To judge the contribution as a collective though, there just wasn't really any. Brit packs make such a difference. I thought Kelsall had one of his worst games of the season and Myers one of his worst ever performamces full stop, topped off nicely by his turnover for their 4th goal.

Bet you wish you could play the Devils every week, then you could all go home happy bunnies. In fairness for a so called big club 7th place possibly 6th is pathetic, Panthers fans deserve so much better, nearly 7,000 punters there tonight to watch garbage.

The game sheet had 3 goalies on and 15 imports. I was told before the game that Archie was on the team sheet as there was a doubt about a Dman. Clearly it was well known before game time that he may not play. Obviously Corey was unimpressed all the same. I've heard nothing but you have to Wonder about Welsh too. Just the way the mind works in times like this but just feels a bit fishy. Somebody else whos not in Coreys good books?

Doubt he will be seen any time soon to be honest.

Well that was a waste of a Saturday evening. Sadly Panthers stank the Arena out!

Although I wouldn't blame Neilson specifically for our ongoing travails, I'm sure when Pacha sacked GG he expected more of an improvement than we've seen - we're 0.013 PPG better than GG's team, we concede fewer goals, but score fewer goals too. I'm not sure it's for us to know who should be the coach/GM, but we got rid of Neilson once because it had gone stale, our inability to recruit a successful replacement since suggests a lack of talent in those doing the recruiting to me, rather than him being the only guy for the job. There has to be big question marks over Pacha too, at least having any involvement on the hockey side. Thought our Brit back looked particularly woeful tonight. Well, to be honest thats a bit harsh. Myers looks past it every time I've watched them, tbh. Problem is he's our only senior Brit. We had 4 of them today, 2 are two-way deal players. Ridiculous state of affairs.

Maybe so, but his record is worse than Graham's. This fact doesn't stop clueless morons still hailing his return as akin to the second coming. The team isn't good enough to compete at this level and Neilson isn't the answer to the coaching issues, his time is past. None of this matters however, as despite ten years of decline there are still idiots who fill Black's coffers early doors, putting zero pressure on him to actually improve the situation. The one crumb of comfort is they get the team they deserve. So who is the answer? No idea. I doubt any coach worth his salt would want to take the job on. The teams signed for many seasons now were never going to compete. Neilson however was a rushed appointment after sacking Graham, and has done nothing to merit his return next season.

Chalk it up, 1 win and 10 losses since the beginning of pre-season, some rivalry that.
There’s no point even getting upset about it, at the end of the 1st when we were 0-2 down, you could sense we were going to struggle to score, no threat and no sustained pressure, it was inevitable that we conceded further. We just haven’t got the quality throughout to compete with them

Was part of the retro thing extended to include giving players nicknames as they were introduced, like Steelers used to do with everybody? Just get them on the ice and get on with it.

Watched the webcast. Not quiet sure what was worse the 'performance' or having to listen to Dan Green on commentary. As for Dubeau arguing with fans, he's a terrible netminder who cant hold down a starting role he's knows how poor he is hence him loosing his poo poo.

In his interview when told it's Guilford tomorrow(today) he may aswell have just said "oh F... Me" 🤣
Speaks well of Hopkins but has barely given him a chance since he arrived. 6th or 7th isn't going to make mich difference. Get Hopkins on the ice with some of the better forwards and get him some experience. Same for Hazeldine.
I do agree with him regards the Dmen though. JCB aside I do think they do a decent job themselves. It's the forwards part of the team D that so often lets them down.

The whole intro still doesn't work for me. 7 nation army is just to slow to skate out to and player call outs to much per player. It's not really bad. Just needs to be quicker and more energy.

Shambolic really.
Was hoping a seed change post GM but nothing has changed its got worse and that is saying something.
Needs a reset 100% organisational cull with a owner judges success rather than ££££ and his next Bentley.

In all EIHL Panthers v Steelers games at the NIC the Steelers have now won more games than Panthers have. Panthers 57 wins Steelers 58 wins Draws 4 What an absolutely abysmal home record to have in your own rink ! 🙄🙈

I personally disagree about the defence, I think Caruso is the best of a bad bunch and we should be looking for a full import clear out in the summer bar Jones

I personally disagree about the defence, I think Caruso is the best of a bad bunch and we should be looking for a full import clear out in the summer bar Jones Caruso is o.k. & Gagnon id keep. His presence is important. As ive said many many times though it's about improving on them and not expecting Gagz to be a top end Dman. Which he has been again. I like Summers but wouldn't be bothered if he didn't return. Even Gagz, who I do really like could be upgraded as a Dman as long as somebody is signed with equal stature in terms of protecting team mates. It's like Pidge said though and something that has been touched on plenty by myself and others. To many good CVs come here and fail for it to simply be about them. We all know there is a bigger picture he and it'll just be a case of rinse and repeat regardless of who comes in next. JCB can go. Lingren can go. Lagrone can go. Ricci(not a propper Dman) can go. Caruso Keep(uni deal anyway) Gagnon keep. It should be more like. Import Import J Hazeldine Gagnon Caruso A Hazeldine Happy to have another import in if we can get better quality Brit forwards in.
