I was thinking about this a while back.
Is there a list anywhere of who Panthers have played, at home, in any "non competitive" games (usually, but not always) pre-season, that were non UK clubs? Maybe a rare visitor to these shores?
Not so much Team Canada (though that kind of thing), but Don Mills Comets kind of idea. (Although I think we used to play DMC slightly before my time, which started when Todd Bidner was a Panther) I can remember, at the old place Team Romania Lada Togliatti (at least once) ?Sokol Kiev Ukraine national team? Jukerit from Finland (who I think are the team Liam Kirk is currently at) possibly the junior team, as I seem to recall most of them wore cages Various Manitoba Bison games There are doubtless a few more.
Surely somewhere in there is the name of someone who has gone onto bigger and better things in hockey, but turned out one night on tour in the UK at a freezing damp barn in the centre of Nottingham, played a few shifts on the third line, then went to hug a radiator?

I think we played a touring Ukraine team mid season Bob. Not the National Team. They were surprised with the support they got in Nottingham as the local Ukraine community turned out to support them. I also seem to recall us playing the Japanese National team mid season in the old barn.

I seem to remember a long while ago we played Kölner Haie. Probably sometime between 2005 - 2008

Some of these comments have rekindled my own memory of these teams that could be missing 'played at home'. But remember that from the original post I’ve not written the National sides ( Ukraine team -if not national - omitted, though I stuck in Romania for some odd reason) also not penned competition/ tournament occasions when sides visiting, ie) CHL , CC and others. Though Aladdin games and Ahearne games plus Hull tri tournament added as they are basically challenge matches. All those listed are not just pre season either, covers anytime within the league fixtures..

The Tesla Pardubice game, which was billed as "JMS All Stars v Tesla Pardubice", took place on 13 Dec 1988. Tesla also played at Durham, Peterborough and Cardiff (and possibly other venues) on that trip. I suspect "JMS All Stars" were in each case the relevant home team plus a few guests.
"JMS" was John Smith, team manager of the Reading Racers speedway team in 1982, who formed JMS All Stars to become a travel agent for riders and fans. He developed a close affinity with Czech speedway, travelling to the country regularly, and promoted participation of British riders in the prestigious Czech Golden Helmet race. This is held annually in Pardubice, so it's easy to see how the ice hockey connection arose.

I seem to remember we played a touring Team Canada side mid season in 1995. We also had some of our team guest for Peterborough Pirates against the same Team Canada team. Paul Adey, Rick Brebant and Garth Premak were all part of the Peterborough Pirates team that won 3:2. Jamie Leach was playing for Team Canada. Was a great night in Peterborough.
