GB team announced for an upcoming mini tournament. Just 2 Panthers in the squad must be the lowest numbers in a GB squad for years.

With the GB team playing in three different types of events. Wonder if its one programme to cover the lot?
10th - 12th February in the Euro challenge (with Japan included?) playing x3 games
22nd - 26th April playing two sides in challenge games x4
29th April to 5th May in the WC on home ice x5 games

That looks like a weak squad. Some untested at serious international level, some way past their prime and others in a poor vein of form.

Good start for the lads, 3-0 win over Japan then a 4-1 win over Poland that sets us up for Romania who've been thrashed in both of their games, 8-0 & 6-0.
Not sure what we'll do against them

Not sure what we'll do against them Remember watching the Romanian team (red, blue and yellow colours) years ago abroad. No real issue for us now days I'm sure, yet thye have improved too. Post April's testers against Latvia and Hungary I am sure we just need to show well against either Italy or Korea to get promotion again when the WC come around. Shown ourselves well versus Poland and hopefully Romania. So should (if we are eager) beat Lithuania in the WC and thus tackle one of the assumed top two opponents if all results go with us and one of them.

Four new passport chasers Ruopp, Curran, Halbert, Critchlow as they're called in hockey circles on the list.
Short term gain over long term pain covering the lack of home grown talent.

If you think that's bad most of the Romania squad are Hungarian/Romanian dual nationals. There's also at least 2 Ukranians and 3 Russian dual nationals too
That's why they have improved much as a country in recent years. Along with the fact that some seasoned ex KHL players have consistently played in their top league (Erste Liga) in recent times

We had a debate about dual nationals on our forum but that's a discussion for another thread I suppose
Anyway, 3 wins from 3 for our lads

There’s seems to be some noise about him asking to be left out, but nothing concrete to confirm this.

Or was that just for the Euro stuff. To come back after a rest of that and any PO action. To play in the Worlds here at home later.

Which means the WC as well. Which is disappointing, that he's not playing as it doesn't help our chances, and it doesn't show him in a good light. I know players have to look after themselves, but he would be representing 'his country .

So many say how proud they are to put the shirt on and if players take ‘time out’ from playing, maybe this should be remembered in future.
