Just moved this into its own thread Baggy.
Right netminder leaving tbh, no offence to Jack but Dubeau, while average, is a bit better. Good luck to him in the future.
See what Jones can do behind our defence.

So much for all this inside info that Corey wants Dubeau out and never liked him 😂😂😂😂. The article says he'll be pushing Dubeau for the starting spot

How many changes does this leave us with? Seen somewhere that you get a goalie allowance of one or something like that. Does this mean we can bring in two more players, as we’ve brought in 3 thus far?

We started with 15 though, so in total we've had 19 different imports in this year.
I'm not entirely sure there's any extra rule for a netminder now? Would've thought the IIHF laughing at us last year would have seen that one crossed out on the cigarette packet?
Edit - Iggy deleted the post mentioning or our 4 signings so far. There could be an IR on there I guess for Duggie, but nothing mentioned, as per.

Per the rules announced at the beginning of the season we’re allowed to register 20 imports in a season and we’re at 19 but Belfast have made number 21 today so who knows

Yes, who knows about the player limitations. Not us to know for sure, all the game regulations never seem to add up.
Recently spoke of stats usage as regards penalty shoot outs after a game and who (if anyone) should get a goal added to their points account and if (and it really should be) the net man also has a goal set against his save percentage. The thing is David, Rob and me all agree that shots AFTER a game should not be totalled up into a games stats BUT.....the skater gets the goal to his credit onto his totals but (as far as we can see) the minder is not penalised with a goal against him. It's either both get numbers for/against them or the other where no one gets anything for/against them.
In the EIHL gamebook 21-22 (I know its last season but should be current) 'Only the deciding goal will count for the result of the game, and that goal will count for the result of the game, and that goal will be credited to the scoring player AND to the goaltender in question'
Yes this is stats but official game procedure which looks like it is not being followed. Thanks to David for highlighting this.
The player limitation number per team? Over to you.

I think we’ve improved our goaltending tandem by bringing Jones in. It’ll be interesting to see if he can establish himself as the starter and if he can stop us from conceding as many goals with the defence he has in front of him. Hopefully this isn’t the end to our mid season recruitment

But I think you may be right. Giants have 16 on their roster, including the new Cooper. Neuls and Soy who are injured..( not registered with the league so presume short term ) and I believe they released 5 during these past few weeks / days

didnt steelers pull a fast one last season regards signing numbers so cant we just do what they did? Afterall they have the league chairman as their owner so they would never break the rules now would they so clearly whatever they did is all above board and legal... honest...

Afterall they have the league chairman as their owner so they would never break the rules now would they so clearly whatever they did is all above board and legal... honest... 'Technically' Steelers didn't break the rule as they signed two players "on loan" from another team in a different league - so they never had to be registered with the EIHL as technically they were on loan from another league. So whilst they could ice more players they the 20 they didn't actually have more than the allowed number of players "registered" with the league. I'd expect the other teams would have demanded they close that loophole now though as it made a mockery of the limit. It's almost as though someone at Steelers was involved with the wording of the rule as "registered with the league" rather than just "signed to the team" or "signed during the season"

There could be an IR on there I guess for Duggie, but nothing mentioned, as per. Yeah. It would be a pretty pointless rule to keep after the EIHL saying that one change had to be kept in case of an injury to the NM, and then the IIHF not so quietly squashing the attempt to bring in an emergency NM last year after the transfer deadline. Would make it pretty pointless any team to still hold back one slot for an emergency late season NM change this year since you'd not be allowed to make one anyway after the transfer deadline.

The signing limits and "injury reserve" issues are as clear as very thick mud. As alluded to above, the league itself appears not to track them and/or publish them, so how on earth is a fan supposed to know?
Time will tell, and I may be wrong, but signing Besko (a man who retired last year and hasn't played pro since) to replace Jones looks to be a brave move by Giants. In his last 6 league games, Jones has a 94.2% SP. That's better than anyone in their last 6 league games bar Kozun, on a brief look.

Jones should be our starter. Streets ahead of the other cagemen that we have tried this season.
