How convenient an interview with a player stating he came here because of GG at the moment fans start questioning GG coaching credential and relationship with the players.
God knows where it was filmed, i was half expecting Ant and Dec to turn up from the jungle !
Given that Jono had now stated it was recorded last Thursday *before* the weekend's dreadful games (and actually first broadcast *during* the webcast of Saturday's game would you and yeti still both stand so heavily behind the convenient/staged idea? I guess not given the timeline. And this is what troubles me sometimes about some of recent events. Let me explain...
If the old panthers never would have put out Omar's statement after the weekend games is it not possible that you/fans might still be seeing old panthers organisation behaviours in new panthers organisation actions?
Sadly I fear this is the most unfortunate legacy of the GM era and Omar's biggest obstacle. Even when things might have changed the trust from many fans will be paper thin to start with and never hard to tear. But, surely, we as fans have our own role in not ripping it up just because we can and just because we're so cynical after the past and not used to anything different?
I fear it has been so long that we as fans were being "bleeped" on by the old way things were run that now when people hear hoofbeats they don't think the most likely horses explanation, or even rare zebras, but rather some guy in a back room with two coconut shells and a microphone trying to get one over on them.
I recognize it will take years I fear to fully overwrite the broken trust. But, as fans, I wonder if we don't have our own role to play if we want this change to take hold don't we? And maybe, just maybe, sometimes that means recognising times when it's possible we're viewing current events thorough our old lens and expectations of the previous regime. And then checking ourselves for where the feeling is coming from before we react?
Perhaps if we're going to demand better of the panthers under Omar might we also sometimes need to demand better of ourselves also???
I don't know, I don't claim to have the answer but it does feel like some of the cynicism about the organisation's reaction to current form is nothing to do with this year but rather based from past years. And as anyone who has ever shared a book can tell you it's hard to turn the page when someone is still reading from the previous page.
But, as always, JMHO and thoughts and others may differ in their feelings
