Dubeau was excellent up until the point he was chucked out with Gagnon but our forwards are way way too small Is this going to be a problem with Dubeau ? I'm all for goalies sticking up for themselves, but he went after a Sheffield player on Saturday, and now this. We don't want a Hirsch or Brian Stewart in goal We only have one player in a team of predominantly small players and so far we get into the lead and then the opposition starts to outmuscle us. This will be a feature of our season I fear. Dubeau was thrown out for illegal equipment which was quite bizarre

That's what a lot of Blaze fans appear to be claiming on Twitter anyway. Not concerned by an outburst from a very out of the blue trip on Dubeau, JCB went after the guy first and Dubeau had to climb over him to throw his fists around. Shows to me that the players aren't going to put up with nonsense more so that reacting to things. Away from that incident, Dubeau was superb all night and was hoping to see him nail a shutout. The blaze webcast commentators were saying up until that point, he was by far and away thier choice for man of the match, before deciding on Hammond. I do agree that we're smaller than I imagined we'd be from Gary's first couple of interviews, however at the moment, I think we're looking good.

Agree yotes.. I'm happy with him taking the odd pen if it means sticking up for himself. At least we'll know what happens if players try and run him

Debeau was superb last night. If he can keep his temperament in check, we’ve got a heck of a goalie. But I love watching the team so far. By far the most entertaining in a long time

It's pre-season, nothing to tell yet, but he has had a start he'd want back, I'm sure. Given that he only played 3 games all last season, I'm not reading too much into it yet. The season before he was plenty good in a very good league. Come back at the end of October. In any case, Greenfield is a pretty acceptable alternative.

I believe the illegal equipment was that he was wearing rings on his fingers. That's what a lot of Blaze fans appear to be claiming on Twitter anyway. It does look from the photo on the Blaze website that he is wearing at least 1 ring on his right hand, which I find quite strange. You could cut your own finger off if the puck hit your glove/blocker wrong?

If I’m not mistaken we only have 4 forwards that are 6ft+ and only 2 of them are over 200 pounds. Size isn’t everything but in pre season we seem to get knocked of the puck way to easily and also got out muscled along the boards a noticeable amount of times. I have no doubt this team is much better than last season but like last season I can see us getting pushed around way to much. I’m not even asking for a huge hitter (janssen) just players that can carry the puck without getting pushed off with relative ease. The skill is there in this team and we have made some nice offensive plays but I feel we would be a hugely different/ more effective with a power forward or two. Can’t understand why we didn’t replace Hunt with a power forward. The majority of our bigger players are on the D core. It’s a worry considering it was a big problem for us last season, also it’s great having gagnon to stick up for the team but once again I feel we need a big forward to be effective on the forecheck and make opposition defenders have more to worry about.

I am very pleased with our squad and it's light and day better than several years past but I don't think this is the team that Graham had in mind when he said that we weren't going to be bullied and the NIC was going to be a horrible place for teams to come and play. Not having Hunt could possibly have made a big difference and we are desperately short of a power forward or someone to keep defenses busy and give our skill players room to play.

I don't think graham described having a team simular to Rich C those years ago full of big bodies but a team who will stick up for themselves instead

I've not seen many physical teams this year on YouTube highlights etc.. if GG is happy with his team thats what matters and he'll know what this team is capable of more than you it’s not subjective at all really. Ur relying on “stats” of our players not being small while completely missing the point of the lack of physicality. Saying “stats don’t fit peoples narrative” as if we haven’t watched them play 3 games. Once again I think we will be a solid top four team this year(in regards to being in the mix with Sheffield, Cardiff and Belfast unlike last year). But the lack of physicality and size up front is surprisingly noticeable. It doesn’t take a expert to know what physicality adds in terms of making space for teammates and winning board plays. Your also making it seem like we are asking for a team as big as RC’s team, no one has said that. Just think it was a mistake not replacing Hunt with a power forward. Something we have lacked for seasons now. Even Sheffield have added more size up front this season.

The forwards are still gelling, I agree we don’t have any bruising power forwards up front like Hunt, but that doesn’t mean that some of our smaller forwards can’t be tenacious and harass the opposition defence to win the puck. I imagine Graham is learning a lot about his players now they’re here, let’s be patient

Are the Elite asleep, closed down, on an extended bank holiday or what. No report and most importantly no GRS of this Coventry v Nottm game.
