Oh yeah... and I for one would like to say a big "Thank-You" to Geoff Woolhouse for getting a 50% points return on being shoved in the deep end. 5 games, 5 points out of 10. He made some mistakes but also some blinding saves. For a backup netminder shoved in after virtually no ice time all season, a 50% return on points isn't too bad, is it?
But it's nice to have Rasto back... and Big Jan as well - classy D-man or what?
Definitely looking forward to tomorrow night's game now...

agree shaggy, Wooly did put up a good performance, i reckon a year or two as a number one goalie in the EPL and he could well be one of the best british netties.

glad they are back however those 5 points shaggy that were lost has effectively lost panthers 3rd place this year have they not..... but would we have got them with rasto in net? geoff was hung out to dry on numours ocassions and i saw nothing to suggest that they were playing any different to when rasto is play(eg more or less defensivly) woolhouse played well and IMO the first team that plays there back up and intervals during the season will help there team soo much as it will help the number one stay fit, and keep there concentration up

There are countless games that we have dropped point this season, so to suggest that its the 5 points dropped with Woolhouse in the net that has cost us third place is just plain stupid. In fact, if we have Cage Forum awards this season, it must be a candidate for gold medal for the most stupid post. In fact, here you go. Have a badge:

Secondly, I reckon there've been plenty worse posts than that this season! Finally, I agree with the bit about us having dropped plenty of points elsewhere, so blaming Woolhouse for us finishing 5th instead of 3rd is a bit off the mark. There are plenty of people who should be ahead of Woolhouse if we're going to play the blame game - and no, that's not a request to start playing the blame game!

Please use plain English to post on the Cage (it's good for you - honest ) - it's a stipulation of the rules and does actually make posts easier to read.
Thanks in anticipation - Cage Admin

My thanks to the House also.
Remember.....an error by the goalie is usually caused by the rest of the team not doing their job correctly......otherwise the puck/ball wouldn't be goalbound (true for many sports).
If House has cost us 3rd place, who has cost us the league....Lindsay, Neilson, they have under-achieved or is it Ellis. He signed them.
Personally I think our inability to kill off the opposition, particularly Sheffield, has caused our failure. Think we have to change this because it looks like we have to beat Shuff to get to the finals. Hopeful that Shuff can win against Vipers and Stingrays while Bison do the double over the Devils.
OR if we get 3 wins and Cardiff and Shuff get 2 defeats each...thats my prefered scenario.
Sorry I wandered off topic a bit.........certainly will be good to have Rasto and Jimmy back.

i think woolys done a good job but not great. if rasto and jimmy was in then we would have had nearer ten points than 5! ok ellis has protected them in making sure their 100% fit, but what good will that do if we dont make the p.off finals. if theyd have featured more we would have been more worried who finished 6th than 4th! grumpyiner ok a goalie is considered the last line of defense and should only be called upon as a last resort but how many hockey games has there been when the netty has never had to make a save. it isnt always d error!

thats kind of my point really grumpy and i know exactly what you mean ted. I am not saying woolie is to blame in this just those points that were dropped (and imho with rasto in I suspect they would not all have been) then we would not be 5th its that simple. Backups are just that noone expects much and they are only ever a sticking plaster anything more and a replacement (a la kudrna) is brought in. Geoff did exactly what was expected as a backup and well done for that but imho in this league (and we arent NHL by a very goodly margin) he will very very unlikely be a Number 1 keeper, i guess he knows that so i dont want to get into yet another debate about how if we persist long enough then all the brit backups will become good enough. As for blame game well, where do you start? I suspect those 8 losses against sheffield have cost us the league (especially when they were so pants) plus two shutouts against hull and it all starts to sound very familiar....

a question: what line will Shmyr go on becuase cards has took his place on the secound and i cant really see him playing on the 3rd allthough it might work?? From what Mike Ellis has said previously it's most likely that Shymr will play as a fifth defenceman for the rest of the season. The defence certainly needs tightening up if we're to progress in the play-offs. I wouldn't be surprised to see him on as a forward for special plays though - he's handy screening the keeper on the powerplay.

With gallant, mac and clarke doing what they do best, and rasti back from injury all that remains is the defence, i wouldnt be suprised if we still see ryan in defence, and i would be happy to see him there. and also with jan back, our defence which i must say has been our weakest link (cough! cory, cough!) may finally be strenghend.
