Hope they can pull it off! Though I do wonder if the statement being released now and how it's worded, suggests to me talks are still in the balance, and this is a nudge to fans and everyone else who use the arena to rally and make it known to the new owners so to apply some pressure.
I hope as well that whatever is done, it won't result in the Clan missing out on another season. I’d like to see the Clan play next season if it’s at all possible to make it happen, even in a reduced budget state playing out of Edinburgh for a year. Unique chance to blood more young players than usual from the likes of the Sharks, Racers and Pirates to help keep player costs down. I think fans could live with that for a year, especially after going over a year without hockey already.
Ultimately though, if fully sitting out a season is what it takes, then so be it. The big concern is going to be how would the club keep the fan connection going until matches start again. The Clan nights and raffles have already dropped well off from their early highs, it’s going to take something really out the box to keep things fresh and engaging to fill another years void.

I don't see the arena being an issue rather the shopping centre it's standing in. Unless they are going to turn it into an Amazon distribution point I can't ever see shops (or rather customers) going there in the numbers needed. They really need a 2021 plan for the entire building going forwards.

I’m intrigued by the “major silverware the club competes for every season”. 🤣🤣 PMSL The office teaspoon. It's a line that always makes me squirm, as they think they're being clever because it's "Glasgow" they "need" to say lines like this to appeal to the "old firm" mentality. As any football fan in the area apparently will never turn up to another sport unless you say you're competing to win trophies.

I’m intrigued by the “major silverware the club competes for every season”. 🤣🤣 PMSL it actually says 'to become one of the UK’s premier professional ice hockey clubs, which competes for major silverware every season'.

Let's not get started on fake news, eh? Come on iggy, a quote, in them there "quote marks", has a be a quote, OK? That's why it's called a "quote" and not a "rearrangement of similar words to convey the meaning you want it to, rather than its initial, intended meaning". It's clumsily worded though, the intended sense of the insertion between the commas could be bet better put as below "This would not only allow us to progress our plans to become one of the UK’s premier professional ice hockey clubs, competing for major silverware every season, but also puts us on the European map." And I'm not sure I even like the "European map" bit.

Crikey how long do they want to become a team that competes for major silverware, they’ve been going 11 years now, that’s a possible 33 major trophies and yet they’ve been close to winning virtually none of them ! 🙄

What's this thread got to do with panthers? Could possibly be part owners of a huge white elephant full of empty shops

Doesn't say "winning" does it?

Doesn't say "winning" does it? That depends on your definition of “competing” though doesn’t it. I’d say the Clan generally “take part” in the competition rather than actually “compete” properly for silverware. They’ve had 33 tries and yet how many times have they finished either top four or even made a cup or play off semi final ? I don’t think they’ve even done that many times.

That’s only 2 times out of a possible 33 trophies and both those were helped by the skewed conference system.

Presumably the shopping center will reopen at some point. The Clan seem to be wanting to buy The Arena, which must be a complicated deal as its situated within the center. Like Panthers trying to buy the bowl but not the rest of the Ice Centre.
