www.panthers.co.uk/home/210316-domingueThoughts on Panthers latest signing? If this was a regular season I think a lot of fans would be upset, solely judging him from his inexperience in the professional leagues. He has scored well in USports and I hope his recent 11 game stint in the ECHL isn’t a fair reflection of his ability. Doucet is happy with his signing though and he has spoken highly of him, hopefully he turns out to be a good signing.

We were hardly going to be signing the ghost of Gretzky for this tournament... Players looking to prove themselves/shop windowing was always going to be the answer.
Fuel the doubters/naysayers no doubt but it is what it is.

Yes, these players are signing for what is literally a 5 week season. We are not going to get top players as either they have teams that are playing longer seasons or 'can't afford' to play. It is an opportunity for players that want to try and make a name and hopefully get a contract for next season if things go well.
as for the naysayers and doubters, some of those that are prolific at commenting dont attend games anyway.

Exactly this. I doubt anyone will be signing many "normal" type players, for a 5 weeks season that's starting when most of europe is finishing or has finished. Let those who actually watch the games have an opinion.

I was fully expecting players of this stature coming over for 5 weeks.. you will have done well to get a career AHLer over for this length of time. It is what it is

He's a typical Panthers signing. Lots of potential, played with other players who have then signed AHL contracts, his college report says he's definitely one for the future. Doucet says there is 'no expectations' of him. He could be a star in the 5 week league, in which case we would then look to sign him again for September, he may put in plenty of effort for 0 return, in which case we'll probably never see him again.

A star of the future, he’s 25 isn’t he ? He’s not still a young kid like Bobby from Beeston.. He looks an ok signing, but remember this series isn’t going to be usual EIHL standard so I’d be wary of signing any player based just on what he does over the coming few weeks.

It is what it is. Let them all come and if we unearth a gem for the future then happy days. If we don't, then hey, at least we get to watch a bit of hockey.

A star in the 5 week league is what I actually said. He's fresh out of Uni, and apart from a short stint at Tulsa, still an unknown quantity in the pro leagues. But I maintain it's still a good potential signing for when the league starts again in earnest.

Hopefully he ends up being more Darcy Murphy than Dylan Malmquist

Hopefully he ends up being more Darcy Murphy than Dylan Malmquist You’re comparing a guy who’s straight out of college with Darcy Murphy? Have you been at the metal polish again? I’ll be very happy if he does rack up points like DM but I’m thinking that is somewhat of an outlier in terms of probability. Here’s hoping you’re right though.

Sorry Mr Expert .. as usual 🙄 Apart from 8 games in the AHL and half. Season in the echl their paths are similar . DM was a one season pro when he joined the giants so it's not unrealistic to expect Domingue to perform similar .. unless you're getting your excises in early comparing him to DM 😂🙄 But like has been said this is a very panthers esq signing !

Not expert at all, just slightly different opinion. You're right, they're not dis-similar at the same stage in their career, but Murphy has 5 more pro seasons than Domingue at this stage, and that makes comparisons more difficult. As I say, I hope you're right, that he scores like Darcy Murphy did at Belfast! That would be an outcome we could all warm to.
