Anyone know what date the tickets are likely to go on sale?
Mods feel free to close thread if there’s one further down somewhere already kicking about

Couple of weeks, might be announced next week but we’ll only get a few days notice before they go on sale.

Getting in early, are there any season ticket holders who WON'T be going? I've got a party of 4 this year, but only 2 season tickets between us so could do with 2 extra for the presales.

Annoucement tomorrow regarding the sale of Play off tickets from the Elite league. Being as ours are usually the first on sale I would suspect Monday 20th for us.

Yeah, continuing the multi-year deal with Predictor Bet would have been a bit difficult, their website is offline and no posts on social media since last year’s Play-Off Finals. At least there’s no danger of that happening with Premier Sports. (Touchwood!)

It also means that if for whatever reason, you are not going to the Play Offs weekend, you will not be able to watch for free on FreeSports like last year! You will have to pay for their sister channel instead! What are the Elite League getting out of it then, if anything?

Probably more money for starters.. freesports pay peanuts to show games .. prem sports as it's a premium channel will pay more to show it. Pretty much no brainer

Folk not going can watch all 4 games over 2 the days with the choice to do so on either via TV or online streaming, in HD, for a price lower than ONE webcasted EIHL match (Cardiff excepted who are a whole £1 cheaper). On top of that, you get NHL and European hockey games on offer during the 1 month subscribed for. Seems like a pretty good deal for all involved, and there's nothing to stop a group of folk chipping in a couple of quid each to watch it in the one house.
I've got plenty of bones to pick with the EIHL, but this isn't going to be one of them.

Being on Premier sports is not going to inspire new potential fans or young people into trying the sport. If you don't already follow UK ice hockey its unlikely you'll know anything about it being on Premier sports and thats my issue with it.

My question in response would be, what has the free to air model these past number of these done to accomplish any of that?
Crowds are down for half the clubs in the league, and the league itself has had no title sponsor for 7 years. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results. The EIHL is at least doing something different, and it's also with a company that's done a lot to support UK Ice Hockey, a lot of which has been broadcast on their free to air channel.

It's only halfway through it's 2nd season on freesports. Steelers crowds are up and possibly giants too. Guildford have been on the increase in recent games but I'm not sure you can blame tv for a down turn in attendance considering the games are midweek and not even every week. I think consitency from all teams has been non existent. Ticket prices are up at some clubs too. What has the league gained from freesports? Well I know of people who have never watch hockey before and now have been on freesports and I'm sure other people can say the same. The referees are now sponsored by a major company that are global. Is this down to freesports? I'm sure the fact that it is possible for millions to watch freesports is a positive over thousands (I presume) on premier. How good of a deal is it that the tv company broadcasting the games is sponsoring the competition? That we will never know but I'm sure premier sport will have agreed a good deal on their part. Give freesports time and plenty of marketing to get it known so people are aware of it. It takes time to build relationships and the profile of the sport on this channel. EIHL need to be more forward thinking in building the sport. A free to view channel will always allow for more viewers and better sponsorship with the right people marketing it for the simple fact it is available to a wider audience.

How do we know Premier Sports are paying anything ? It could be the EIHL are paying Premier. “The COO of Freesports, Richard Webb, COO of FreeSports added: "We are delighted to continue our support of British Ice Hockey by backing the league with sponsorship of both the Challenge Cup Final and the Playoffs for this season." Backing the league implies some form of support. But as for figures, who knows. I doubt the league would pay for it being as though the league itself hasn’t had a title sponsor for years.

These comments always make me laugh, people seem happy to pay £10 to £15 a game for a webcast filmed on a single handheld camera in SD with some random local as a commentator. Yet won't pay £10 a month for Premier Sports in HD with other sports included, but will pay up to £50 a month on webcasts!

How do we know Premier Sports are paying anything ? It could be the EIHL are paying Premier. Because that's not how it works. Do Sky/bt pay the premier league or os it the other way round. They pay the premier league for the rights to show it.. that's how it's supposed to work anyway. So like I said the eihl paid freesports peanuts for the privilege.. premier are obviously offering more

But it’s not so long ago that we were being told it was the EIHL that were actually paying for it to be shown.

Premier Sports is brilliant value each month for the amount of sport options you get. It’s a no brainier financially watching the CC and POFW on Premier rather than shelling out a few hundred £’s on webcasts, tickets, travel and hotels.

For example, are they showing the panthers game against Fife this weekend, are they showing Belfast's game this weekend. People are getting webcasts are after a specific item, not the general range premier sports have

Didn't say anything about TV games reducing attendances. You stated free coverage would "inspire" people to try the sport, I was asking how is the free coverage accomplishing that considering half the clubs average attendances have dropped this season.

I'm not going to put down the deal too much.
Premier and Freesports have severe limitations over how many people will realistically be exposed to our sport however I don't think there are too many alternatives at the moment. Premier are a business willing to invest money in British hockey, it's not game changing money but at the moment our sport has to take what little it can get.
The long term goal HAS to be to get us on BBC/Sky/BT to get that good exposure but it'll take money, or at least a heavy contribution from the league to make a deal like that happen.
So it'll do for a couple of years. It'd be nice if it was free to watch but it's really not very expensive.
The issue I have personally is that living outside of the UK Premier Sports blackout everything to non-UK IP addresses despite there being no TV deal abroad.
I'll be able to stream illegally and for free but only because they physically won't allow me to pay and watch. I imagine it'll be the same for many of the players family and friends all over the world who won't be able to tune in because of the limitations Premier puts on itself.

Let's be honest, the way this season is going, no set of fans can be confident of winning over 2 legs in the Quarter Finals
