I really don't understand the negativity towards (a) the sponsorship and (b) the POFW being on Premier Sports.
For £11.99 you can subscribe to Premier Sports for a month, watch POFW, then cancel. So for all 4 televised games, you'd pay £11.99 - less than the cost of the webcasts for the semi-finals last season.

A side thought to the deal. Is there any way they can work on a better camera angle. I know it would be quite difficult as there are few places at the NIC. The obvious ones are probably too high or too low. I remember back in the sky days they used to build a platform over a few rows of seats for league games. That'll be a no go these days with Play Offs being all but a sell out over recent years. The angle from the box they currently use does the product no favours at all.

UK hockey is NEVER going to be on BBC/Sky/BT anymore. It's a different game now and even first-timers often leave before the end bored.

And when you’ve had Premier for a bit if you ring them up and tell them it’s too expensive for you or make some other excuse and you need to cancel it they will usually offer you a deal and you can keep it for about £7.99 per month which is even better value. 😉

When I did have it though I was never paying full price. Always on some 3 or 6 month deal. Usually half price around 4.99 at the time.

It's only halfway through it's 2nd season on freesports. Steelers crowds are up and possibly giants too. Guildford have been on the increase in recent games but I'm not sure you can blame tv for a down turn in attendance considering the games are midweek and not even every week. I think consitency from all teams has been non existent. Ticket prices are up at some clubs too. What has the league gained from freesports? Well I know of people who have never watch hockey before and now have been on freesports and I'm sure other people can say the same. The referees are now sponsored by a major company that are global. Is this down to freesports? I'm sure the fact that it is possible for millions to watch freesports is a positive over thousands (I presume) on premier. How good of a deal is it that the tv company broadcasting the games is sponsoring the competition? That we will never know but I'm sure premier sport will have agreed a good deal on their part. Give freesports time and plenty of marketing to get it known so people are aware of it. It takes time to build relationships and the profile of the sport on this channel. EIHL need to be more forward thinking in building the sport. A free to view channel will always allow for more viewers and better sponsorship with the right people marketing it for the simple fact it is available to a wider audience. Didn't say anything about TV games reducing attendances. You stated free coverage would "inspire" people to try the sport, I was asking how is the free coverage accomplishing that considering half the clubs average attendances have dropped this season. It's not just attendance in the stadiums that you need to consider but other factors that build up the profile of the sport. Not all teams attendances are down either. If its hidden away on a little known subscription channel it is not available to the masses to discover. It is not insanity to keep doing something in the early stages, it has to be given time to build allowing for true reflection of its impact. Rome wasn't built in one day. 1 and bit seasons is not a long time at all. Has the EIHL and Freesports exhausted all marketing avenues, I don't think so. If anything I think they're doing this beacuse they know current fans will likely pay the subscription and premier sports increase their subscriptions with the hope people will stay.

But the EIHL aren't moving from Freesports to Premier. Premier are only showing the Cup final and POFW. Freesports will continue to show weekly EIHL programming, whether it be the highlights show or a live game.

Getting in early, are there any season ticket holders who WON'T be going? I've got a party of 4 this year, but only 2 season tickets between us so could do with 2 extra for the presales. I’ve got an adult and teen season ticket, if I can help then I will, just let me know what I need to do. Quick nudge in case you hadn't seen my latest DM.

It will not shock me if we hear about record amount of tickets sold for today.
There seems to be more people queuing than normal

Row S was the lowest in Block 5, row Q in block 4, row M in Block 3. I'd guess 75%+ will be gone today. It also took half an hour to get on the line, then 50 minutes in the queue to get the tickets.

I’ve just contacted them and I got through in a couple of minutes. Managed to get six together in Block 4, Row U, we prefer being higher up so that wasn’t a problem. No availability for six together in Block 5.

Chances are by Wednesday, I'd say sold out or there will be the odd seats around. With The Steelers on sale next week and their fans confident, I'd say that their blocks will be as good as sold out by midweek as well

Sent my friend to Queue at the box office. Perect seats exaxtly where we wanted. Block 5 row J.
They do allocate seats to people in the Queue pre 9am so by the time you get to counter to pay its all sorted and a lot quicker. So before 9am id guess at least 100 if not 200 seats already allocated as sold.

Waltzed into the arena at 1:30 and was able to get 6 together with no bother. The whole transaction took 2 minutes.
I must say the run up to the tickets going on sale and first thing this morning in terms of the things on social media has frankly been ridiculous. Grown adults panicking because it took a while to get through on the phone at 9:01 posting on Facebook to check whether it was just them or not. However did people get tickets before Facebook?!?
Also people charging for use of their ST that they wouldn’t be using themselves. The ST would be unused and there were people wanting to use them but as opposed to people just doing a nice thing and letting them use the numbers trying to make a few quid.
I suppose the above is just a sign of modern Society though.

Only reason I went back to going down last year was because I got stung with a large phone bill trying to get through a few years back. I've also never enjoyed sitting near the back. Dont like it once you get to those back 4 or 5 rows under thr boxes. I saw somebody charging to go buy peoples tickets and thought the same as yourself. No need for the hysteria that comes from some either. Go queue up if you want, get straight on phone at 9am or wait a few hours but why anybody has to belittle others for their choices of how to buy tickets is silly.

...I got stung with a large phone bill trying to get through a few years back... www.saynoto0870.comThere's an app called queue4u I believe that also rings you back when your at the front to save waiting from 11th etc and costs nothing. You can safely put the phone down and make a brew knowing you won't miss the ' hi can I help you' from reception.
