What a game. And Guptill’s chance with 2.30 to go wasn’t offside. But that’s with many slow mo replays. I can easily see why it was called. I confidently told my mates after two that we wouldn’t score all night. Stick to the day job, eh?

Pidge good teams don't loose to opposition they are expected to beat... so don't need to bounce back..
Great that we won and it keeps things interesting but its still Cardiff in the driving seat to take all the honours this season...

Good teams have always come unstuck against teams they are expected to beat!! It happens

I was really enjoying that game even when we were behind. Obviously I was over the moon when we scored the fourth.

Cardiff have quite a few players who have been together for some time and a coach who has been in position for a few years. Much of the Panthers roster is new and the coach no doubt is learning (in spite of his experience) about the league and the opposition. Yes Cardiff are the team to beat, but one hopes that with time Panthers will be right up there with them. After all in Cardiff, the match was there for the winning and one hopes that sort of situation will addressed. There will be some banana skins for Cardiff as well one thinks

Did Doty pick up an injury? I don’t think he iced in the third period

Thought we effectively gained two new forwards last night in the third when Farmer and perlini started with Pither and that first shift set the tone for the rest of the period. Hopefully that will be continued and if Farmer and Perlini get going points wise, that will be a big boost for us.

Showed a lot of Character to pull it back in the 3rd especially while playing shorthanded. Great win.
Hughes was immense!

Stunning performance in the third! Garnett atoned for what I felt was a soft opening goal and then possibly a third (not seen a replay) with his huge stop on Martin. Hughes was great all night and hopefully plays with such physicality as often as he can. Pither is absolute gold-dust.

Very disappointing in the third from a Cardiff point of view.
Sloppy passes, failing to get the puck out of the zone and occasionally being half asleep in giving up shooting lanes. Looked a bit like a team who felt like they could wrap up the game whenever they wanted.
Had a bad feeling from the moment Martin missed the penalty shot. Would have preferred a power play to sap some energy and stop momentum being built which, credit to the Panthers, they did very well in the 3rd.
I think we will go back and forth all season (which is good, because I was bored stiff watching us against the Steelers), and it will be down to who can perform against the Belfast’s/Guildfords/Storms of the league who will get top spot. Looking forward to getting a new D man in, and possibly a new forward if Faryna is out long term.

Did Doty pick up an injury? I don’t think he iced in the third period Chernomaz benched Doty,Lacho, Betteridge (for the most part) as well as Tetlow & Hazeldine in the 3rd. Result was Perlini was now playing on a line with Pither & Farmer. It was no coincidence that both of them started playing better as soon as that happened. I was saying to the guy next to me for the 1st 2 periods that the forward lines need changing up a bit (your not going to get point production from Perlini on a line with Doty & Farmer for one thing) Lo & behold Chernomaz changes the lines around at start of 3rd & within 10 seconds we score. The rest they say is history.... Good win. Good third period performance. Where was the team in the 1st & 2nd periods though?

Im sick and tired hearing early season how good panthers teams are by squeaking the win and fans saying good teams find a way to win etc etc and then come Christmas this good team imho get found out and then find ways to lose... Good teams are good end of, yes they don't win every game but how many has Cardiff lost (and I don't just mean at home either).. For the past two seasons and in all likelihood this one as well teams WILL be compared to devils and from what I have seen so far they have come up short yes Cardiff lost last night but its very likely they will go on another winning streak and I bet panthers will lose another must win game well before they do... Im glad the panthers fan base are energised again and its about time given the dismal years we have had to endure during the last tenure of CN reign but I believe come the end of the season when the trophies are handed out devils will be there with the lions share of the spoils..

Tex i have learnt over the last decade at least that you are a hard man to please, no problem with that glass half full situation, but given we have a new team and a new coach i think to bring up previous years problems for example the xmas period is a bit disingenuous. It hasnt happened yet if it will happen at all and although you are right about the devils look like the team to beat, we have except for one blip last saturday looked to have the potential and the fighting spirit to also be there when the trophies are handed out, take last night we outshot the devils in all three periods so its not like they were all over us like a rash. An injury to Bowns would massively diminish their potential to win trophies. In my opinion they are not as good as you think look at their performances in Europe compared to ours in the past, fast clever teams with a strong passing game will beat them.

Well played you guys, what a great game of hockey, pity there had to be a loser, but the game of hockey was a sure winner, Jesus if we could watch games like that every week, you would be pushed to get a ticket. That game was a pure joy to watch, I would take that game even though we lost, every day of the week, over beating the MKL 9-1. Congrats to you guys, the Panthers are a force to be reckoned with and you guys must be well chuffed. Can’t wait till we meet again, so we’ll played guys. Happy Hockey Days.

Even the crowd wasn’t bad probably about 3500 even though Panthers gave it as 4500. 🙄 Still it was better than up in Sheffield where even at £5.00 at ticket they could only get 3500 in and their game wasn’t on tv. Poor show Steelers.

Great post game interview with the coach. Its good to be having proper on screen interviews with Rich and listening to him speak in detail about the team rather than a 20 second sound bite on xynomix that we used to get that often didn't even come from the coach

It is reported that 80,000 watched the game on Freesports With a peak time viewing of almost 100,000 too. That was very good, probably six times the average live watching Saturday night aggregate crowds over five league games.

It is reported that 80,000 watched the game on Freesports If that's accurate, that is fantastic - and I don't think there could have been a better game to reach that kind of audience. If the TV coverage has any chance of bringing in new fans, that would have been the game to do it.
